Best of luck against Sporting Mutants lads, the country is behind you (but der redz are everyone's second team apparently). Honestly think you'll get something this time, they are massively over performing, a midfield with the technical ability of a pub side and the press is long gone.

First one to two foot Milner's square head off should get a statue imo

Hope Mina 2 foots him in the face.

ooooh God. Every year it's the same "we're gonna win" blah blah blah.

Last time I remember such rampant optimism was in January 2014, just under two months after getting 4 points from OT and the Emirates. In doing so we buried a 21-year hoodoo at Old Trafford and were high on the fumes of it way longer than we should have been.

So the 222nd derby kicks off and I'm feeling cautiously optimistic. 20 minutes later, my face is like Bart and Lisa's when Marge tells them they're going to the Highway Nine Bird Sanctuary instead of Itchy and Scratchy land.

I'm not saying we can't pull it off, but that sort of rhetoric isn't helping our image. I mean we go on and on about 1999. For us it was (F.A Cup win aside) our greatest achievement of modern times. Finishing fourth with a rubbish team was pretty good.

Ask any RS when their team last won at Goodison, they'd be like "we can't remember, for us, it was just Tuesday"...

Look. Why can't we just treat it like any other game and stop going on and bloody on about records etc.

If you have to ask that question you really don’t really get this football supporting mallarkey.

We don’t “just treat it like any other game” because it most certainly is not “like any other game”.

Which is why I am sat here, wide awake, posting at near enough 5 a.m.

Because I cannot sleep.....and that is almost half a century since I went to my first derby.

It is derby day.....a day like no other in the football calendar.

Derby day always gives me a gut feeling similar to what I imagine getting told you were being sent to the trenches felt like. Late kick off is just a misery compiler
