Such a weird couple of pages this.

No one believes the mail, yet when they link Digne with City, the house falls down.

Paul Joyce who’s the man in the know across both Merseyside clubs, says were giving him a new deal, and the house still falls down because of the Mail story.

The lad won’t leave if Carlo wants him, imo.
It’s such a lazy transfer rumour link as well. The type we see dozens of towards this part of the season.

Top club is lacking in certain areas: link any player in that position who is performing well and playing for a non-traditional top 6 club.

For sure. It's a very small sample size of form for Godfrey at the minute. To put it in context, he's had an outstanding week.

The lad appears to have a real hunger and steel about him though so I'm hoping (predicting) this is just the beginning of an outstanding career.
Yeah I really like what i've seen from him but I wouldn't be surprised if teams begin to take advantage of the fact that he's not a left back soon. It's possible that he's genuinely comfortable there and capable of playing there regularly, but it's a but early to tell. I thought he had a really good game at right back in the derby but then he was absolutely hopeless there at Southampton (not his fault but he was) so I'm wary of just believing that the good week will naturally become a good month etc. Hopefully he can transfer his good form to the centre at some point. Whether Digne comes back in as soon as he's fit or not, it's certainly good to see him looking on the road to recovery.

The house really hasn't fallen down though? It's hardly been mentioned, and when it has most people have said 'hope he stays but...'. Not sure what you've been reading to be honest.

Did I just read someone refer to Paul Joyce as someone in the know for both clubs?

Paul Joyce gets no scoops anymore, only ever fed information at teh same time as most journalists and has a massive agenda against Everton since they blocked him out. (I'm sure that was after a particular article?). He's a remarkably biased journalist, dont waste your time on him. Plenty of others to go off who get info before and reliable, the Athletic for example.

I believe most from The Athletic are relatively in the know.

Whether Joyce is safe and only tweets once he knows stuff, maybe, but he's often very much on the money. Even though he is a massive Kopite.

He never really got scoops as such, he's just a reliable source. If he says something's happening it usually is.

Chicken or Egg
Which came first? The transfer rumour or the contract offer.
Sometimes no matter which ckmes first, the 2 are often connected...if only to big up the fee

But when do you drop somebody playing well, for somebody who's not really gonna be fully up to speed for a couple of games at least?
Imagine the fume if we dropped Godfrey for Digne and we lose!?

Doesn’t matter if they’re all worldie goals that were unstoppable... the fall out on here would be biblical!!

Who knows what's in the minds of
a) Ancelotti
b) Brands.
How does Ancelotti see his final starting 11...what formation? of which 11 players
Maybe he doesn't see wingbacks as a long term thing.
As ever more questions than answers

Edit; Not even City wouldn't buy a player in Jan who mightn't kick a ball until March - would they?yrs could
