History doesn’t look kind on Benitez in these instances, I know who I’m backing

Me too but it can be both too.

Benitez being a bit of a dinosaur/Digne telling his agent to find him a move and taking the piss to ensure it happens.

For years we've all been crying for a manager who'll put some discipline into the side/give us a team that aren't spineless pricks so it's tricky really.

Course he will.

I'd do the same if my boss decided to use me as an example cos I dare speak out.

He was gone the minute it happened

Could you blame him? It's a pit of misery around the club at the minute and I'd imagine he wouldn't be on his own in wanting out.

Depends.

If faking illness etc, then yes - I will blame him.

That type of attitude is indicative of problems right through the club for a very long time.

It's a direct criticism I had of Brands, signing players who are on the come down when they come to Everton. No hunger. Played at a higher level.

Of course, all the above is just complete guesswork.

Suppose its about levels isn’t it ? If he’s banished for kicking off or being late for training or half arsing it fair enough . If its because he asks questions then maybe less so .

No, not good, buy him give us the 40+ mill, so he is off our books and that's that.

Have to say do we really want him to go or is this because of the upset with Benitez who wants rid?
It's almost as if making it clear to the whole world that you have no intention of playing Digne and that you are desperate to get rid of him doesn't put you in a strong negotiating position. Weird, right.

Digne to his credit has never came across as that type of player, he’s seemingly well respected around the squad has always been well respected by his managers, and came back early from injury last year for carlo when we had the injury crisis. Whereas the waiter has a lot of previous with this type of thing

The manager singled him out to make an example of him to cover up his own ineptitude and because his ego can't take being questioned.

The man isn't fit to manage this club and is a total joke. I can't take anything he says seriously. I'm embarassed he manages my club and he needs to be forced out.

If Digne doesn't want to play for him then fair play, because his treatment was shoddy. I'd want out if my boss hung me out to dry like that publicly in front of all my peers as well.

He's played under 3 managers...and it's the first who's singled him out and dropped him for more than footballing reasons, saying he's not playing for the "team".

That's just two people falling out. And Rafael has priors of the same

Vice captain too

I would presume the player hasn't ruled himself out and even if he did he wouldn't be in the team anyway.

And yes, it's not unlikely for people to fake illness / go off on sick leave when they hate their job and potentially affecting them mentally.

There's not a single reason - outside of a new stadium on the horizon - to be cheerful for anyone associated with Everton at the moment, not least due to a stubborn buffoon playing hard cop.

You banish a player , effectively publicly humiliate him , don’t even have him travel with you then because of injuries you need him so bring him back in and are surprised he’s ‘unwell’.

That's the thing isn't it?

It's all ifs, and maybes.

Because of that we probably can't be too conclusive either side - despite the temptation.

It's almost as if making it clear to the whole world that you have no intention of playing Digne and that you are desperate to get rid of him doesn't put you in a strong negotiating position. Weird, right.

Very valid point.

If he's off in January, you can't come out and call him a snake etc.

It's not in Benitez' interest to fall out with one of our best players mate.

I'm sure he'd rather have Digne playing.

But team > individual and if Benitez has reason then he has reason.
