Yeah I always thought that as I watched our left back run underneath a cross that led to a goal. Don't get me wrong even Baines was guilty of that lots of times, but managers have to build a team from the back. Howard did it, and Moyes(not my fav by any means) did it aswell.
I'd have a Pat Van any day over a Digne .

PVDH would last about 5 minutes in the modern game before he was sent off.

The MODERN GAME involves full backs pushing forward, opening up and linking play. Think Baines/Pienaar - we need that, not Tony effing Hibbert on both flanks.

All that leads to is getting pegged back even more than we are at the moment, no outlet - Rondon runs like he's got concrete boots on, and DCL plays off crosses which strangely enough, come from full backs... The full backs that won't be crossing the halfway line.

So you think our new left back is a PvdH type then ? ....he looks a more modern version to me like.
Not a lacking left left winger.
A defender who can attack.
Which is what we need.

The frig are you on about??

You said you would prefer PVDH over Digne, and as for Mykolenko - I've not seen him play as he's came from a farmers league as has Patterson, so I'm holding little to no hope for the pair of them.

I'm saying Bilyaletdinov/Jo but playing at left back, and as for Patterson - the farmers league reserve right back, I'm holding judgement as @davek says he's awful so naturally he'll be spectacular.

Haha ?

Left attacking full back not left winger. Its what we're looking for I reckon.

John Bailey was very popular if you remember back then ? But he was replaced for a better player.
Probably a better player than his replacement to be honest. But PVdH made out defence more solid as did Ratcliffe going Centre Half.
I just think any manager worth his salt builds from the back, not Kevin Keegan types who just please the fans.

John Bailey was massively on the ale and it caught up with him, that’s why he was replaced.

So everything that he says is automatically a lie?

I genuinely dunno why some of you still follow the club at this point..

Do I believe Digne wants out right now? Yes. Do I believe he wanted out before Benitez fell out with him? No.

To question his commitment after the manager happy slaps him with his own ego is beyond me.

But then again you've wrote a few garbo statements today already.

Disagree - as his 'calling out' of Digne could impact upon the price we receive for him... assuming a sale is concluded.

A more pragmatic or sensible manager would have said something along the following lines in order to maintain the moral high ground and avoid reducing the transfer value: Digne has expressed a desire to play Champions League football which he feels that he will not get at Everton in the short term. If a club in the Champions League comes in with an offer that meets our valuation and we are able to recruit a replacement then we would reluctantly let him go but, until or unless this happens he remains an Everton player under contract with us.
Do you think you can bamboozle other managers by not addressing the elephant in the drawing room and 'keeping it in house'?

They know why Digne is leaving: under his own steam because he wants CL football...and they'll accept that he's pulled a few stunts to get a release early from his contract.

It's naive beyond belief to think that everyone in the game doesn't know where the motivation for this potential move has come from, and it wont effect price.

I cant wait until he leaves. He's not going to be missed - he's stunk the place out for ages, and we get a good kid with potential plus more cash to spend elsewhere.

Good riddance to bad rubbish I say.
