And you’re not concerned about the management that has prompted this response from an otherwise top professional with no history of causing problems?

If I had an employee, well liked by everyone, a history of professional behaviour and I then appoint a manager who has a known track record of conflict and fall outs wherever he goes - after a few months my employee wants to go to a new job and tells me he can’t work for this manager…it’s not the employee I’m looking at or concerned about, its the manager. I’ll tell you what else, that employee won’t be the first to leave, same will happen with others, same everywhere they go managers with this style, never last long.

You, nor I know.

We have no clue what Lucas Digne is like as a person.

What we do know is what is made public.

Digne was in full training. He was in the 11 to play Vs Chelsea. He decided to withdraw himself.

You can guess or make whatever excuses or reasoning behind his choice - you can accuse the manager of lying but for me, the moment he jibbed playing for us is the moment I thought Benitez might have a point.

For a long time I've said on here, and said to his agent that he should read the room and be less obsessive on promoting his own stats. I wasn't at all surprised Benitez made a similar comment.

To be fair though, that's the agents job... to promote his player and maintain as high a profile for him as they can.

I don't get this, who said that he refused to play against Chelsea? Wasn't it Benitez? If so, wouldn't it suit his literal agenda by saying that instead of "I'm freezing him out because I'm absolutely clueless"? Lad literally just committed his future to Everton in February, only thing that's different is the manager.

The Boss singled him out and said he was ill. Then alluded that he didn't believe he was ill (11 first team players were also ill or injured also btw).

By a kopite liar who has sold a player for missing a game to see their kid being born

Who made that public, Benitez?

He demanded moves from Barcelona, PSG and now Everton.

He and his agent are calculated.

The amount of times his agent/media advisor Lars Hendel bangs on about his stats on twitter does my head in - even after we play dreadfully.

‘ Lucas Digne completed the most crosses in 2021…

‘ Lucas Digne had 100% throw in completions’

‘Lucas Digne steals from the rich and gives to the poor’

Give it a break.

He was tone deaf though - which he acknowledged and apologised for.

It become parody like.

We'd lose 4-0 and he'd be using social to talk up how Digne crossed more than anyone else.

Id post on here after a bad defeat to await the Digne stats silver lining.

It's why I wasn't at all surprised by Benitez making ref randomly to Digne being all about stats/himself.
