Benitez kept schtum for a few games mate. Was only after Chelsea he dropped Digne in it. Probably to ensure he left because at that point, we had to sell him to pay for his replacement.

Still not the right way to do it.

If Digne has done things wrong any other manager would keep it in house until he's transfered.

If its something like Digne has questioned Benitez's tactics then I'm all for that , everyone in football ( bar Moshiri) is questioning the team set up.

You mentioned Carlo speaking to Mykolenko last year , isnt that forward planning ? What we've wanted for years especially as Small was walking out & Nkounku was allowed out on loan.
Pity we didnt do it with Lukaku & Gana.

The fee for Mykolenko is high. Anyone saying otherwise isn't thinking right. He's 22, yes, but he's never played in a decent league and isn't exactly like he was a standout player. I think he'll be a good acquisition but for that fee we kind of need him to be.

Patterson - the fee is high. But I'm not surprised, we had Bill Kenwright negotiating it. Anyway, I'd say Patterson was probably going to be a bit higher given he's British but we all (rightly) scoffed a bit in the summer at the idea of going to £8m for him!

I suppose Kyiv would argue Mykolenko is first choice LB for club and country and is 22, so plenty of potential.

Patterson I've liked when I've seen him, but I think we've overpaid for him. £16m is steep considering we wouldn't likely get anywhere near that for Kenny who had PL experience.

That was the Arsenal game wasn't it, at Trafford Centre when his Mrs put something on her story? He put something on the Friday after Chelsea but there was nothing from him or his Mrs on the day of the Chelsea game.

I'm not saying he definitely didn't pull a sickie. My point is, if he was ill, at all, he would have been told not to train. So it's not like he phoned it in because he had a cough. He either lied, or if he had a cough or a cold he'd have been told not to attend training and would have had to test. That's the protocol.

Given Gray, Rondon and Delph all got ill too, it's not like the timing doesn't work out.

We all know how this works .
Illness isnt reported to the manager by the player , thats what the medical department are for.
If ( which I doubt ) Digne did in fact say it and it wasnt done through the medical dept Benitez has every right to drop him , sanction him & even fine him.

They certainly were on the right trajectory, but throwing money around on older players is a bad sign.

Think if we are honest villa at the moment are a step up rich owners who have keep out of the way but have backed the club they have a really good youth set up a united club we are probably the opposite of that at the minute
