It's not a signing I'd want to see us make. But he's already here so selling him is also not great. 25m makes it reasonable.

I’d say £30mil would be fair but £25mil wouldn’t be a disaster given we have to sell and he can’t stay here. Can’t help but feel if a top 6 club in the league was selling the starting french left back they’d want more than £25 million though.

That was the Arsenal game wasn't it, at Trafford Centre when his Mrs put something on her story? He put something on the Friday after Chelsea but there was nothing from him or his Mrs on the day of the Chelsea game.

I'm not saying he definitely didn't pull a sickie. My point is, if he was ill, at all, he would have been told not to train. So it's not like he phoned it in because he had a cough. He either lied, or if he had a cough or a cold he'd have been told not to attend training and would have had to test. That's the protocol.

Given Gray, Rondon and Delph all got ill too, it's not like the timing doesn't work out.

Good player but all considered - I'd sell for £30m even if Ancelotti was still here.

Only thing is I'd have thought we'd be able to buy a replacement for less.

I'd also have hoped Niels could perhaps do a job.

All the 'who said what' stuff aside (ultimately the player and the manager will move on so it's not really that important) the sale has allowed us to buy a new LB and RB.

Unfortunately, we've gone 1 in and 1 out at LB and replaced a player who is proven, knows the league and has had good output (until this season) with a player who is moving from a league that's not historically translated well to the Premier League and who is a relatively unknown quantity - for roughly the same fee.

Issue is, we got him at the right age and with a very decent pedigree behind him.

Fans on here would be fuming if we was trying to sign Lucas Digne today for a lot of money and a big wage.

Get a couple of good young players from the sale and it’s not so bad.

He’s a very good player and we are weaker without him, but we can’t have players on £120k odd a week sitting on the bench.

Well we’re selling Digne at 28 nearly 29 and who on a big wage.

He is a loud mouth yes. He does actually rate Mykolenko and Patterson. He just thinks both need time. Having had a few discussions with him he did say he doesn't have an issue with Digne being sold, it's just why it's been done.

I'm kind of the same. Not why as such, but in the manner it's happened. I have no issue selling Digne. It does wrinkle that we're selling to Villa though.

Not being funny mate, imagine this time last year, someone had said we'd have won 3 games in 16, somehow the most hated manager (and the worse one too) since Walker hadn't been binned, Brands had gone and in fact Benitez had all the power, and Digne was being sold to (Steven Gerrard's) Aston Villa...

He trained on the Tuesday, not on the Wednesday (according to Benitez, that's when he called in sick) and Thursday they went down to London. He put a picture of him and his kid on Instagram on Friday 17th. I don't know if he trained after the Chelsea game or not though. I think Benitez gave the squad that weekend off when the Leicester game got canned.

Let’s stop pretending he’s crap and that he doesn’t directly strengthen a rival who are looking to pull away massively from us. Rubbish. He was a very good left back going forward up to a season and a half ago, but he's been terrible for that long.Dodgy ankle as well.

The fee for Mykolenko is high. Anyone saying otherwise isn't thinking right. He's 22, yes, but he's never played in a decent league and isn't exactly like he was a standout player. I think he'll be a good acquisition but for that fee we kind of need him to be.

Patterson - the fee is high. But I'm not surprised, we had Bill Kenwright negotiating it. Anyway, I'd say Patterson was probably going to be a bit higher given he's British but we all (rightly) scoffed a bit in the summer at the idea of going to £8m for him!
