Also, if Benitez wants to do any transfer dealings in January (possibly also in the summer), he is likely going to have to get rid of someone for more than a few million because of our FFP situation. DCL and Richarlison are untouchable because of DCL's injury situation, so Pickford and Digne are the other logical choices.

I think we need to keep Digne. Clearing James' wages off the books late in the summer allows maybe one in. We could possibly get a loan too. But if we sold a player for a couple of million (Tosun, Iwobi or Kenny) then it might generate cash for a fee and wages for another.

I still expect at least 2 in and possibly 3 if we fetch cash in for one of those peripheral players (although shifting Iwobi out would be difficult given his wages...maybe loan him with a view to buy and get half his wages off the books).

Whatever happened, the two of them need to sort out it like grown ups. There is no place in top level sport for petty arguments and grudges. They don't have to like each other but they have to tolerate each other and do their jobs.

Digne has to train well and prove he should play. Benitez needs to not be stubborn and close the door on him. If either of them can't do this then it's a bit childish and they need to grow up.

I have no problem with a manager having a disagreement with a player.

Keep it in house and move on.

Digne hasn't been his best for a while but he is the only recognised left back so the complete lack of competition hasn't helped just like Coleman who should be dropped.

Sadly this is a trait of our club.

There is no equality to be had there. The manager is in charge. The player does what he's asked or he's out.

I disagree completely. It's a two way thing. If the player does what is asked then there should be a way back.

If Digne had a go over our set plays then that's fine by me because our corners have been abysmal compared with last year. We offer zero threat from set plays and can't defend them either.

If finances are tight, which it seems they’re. Then id rather sell Digne, Pickford, Mina. Kean. Before Richarlison and DCL.

Obviously there’s fringe players we’d all like to see the back of. Holgate, Davies, iwobi, Gomes as well for me, I won’t be drawn in
By a decent 25min cameo. But they will be harder to shift for decent money.

The Roy Keane school of people management and leadership, eh? It’s not a model that gets the best out of people long term. Tend to find its control freak, obsessive micro managers who go for this model. Those who fall into line and subserviently do what they’re told will be fine otherwise… Every walk of life with managers with this style you’ll find turnover of staff is high and conflict rife.

I’d prefer a leader that can accept challenge, is open to discussion and dare I say compromise. Diplomacy, tact, consensus, flexing approach - all missing with a manager like this and that should be a red flag. Like every walk of life, you get a manager that knows their stuff but with terrible soft skills - they’ll alienate people, sometimes very good people.

Why would Arsenal swap their first choice right back for a third left back who’s older and not as good as their other two?
I was replying to the post saying Arsenal were interested, and i was just summizing that i wouldnt want Tierney if Arsenal were actually interested in Digne, nor Tavares from watching him after he came on.
Thought the big Japanese lad looked a player though.
But yes to your point, Arsenal wouldnt want the swap!!

Digne is a genuine world class player and we shouldn't be selling our better players when there's still Alex iwobi in the squad.

On the other hand, it seems like a waste having good players at Everton and we don't deserve nice things, so sell him and replace him with Jamal Lewis from the horse punchers.
