Havent seen this article posted yet...

Clearly a top class attacking full back...but being told to sit back. Huge assist maker for the team since he joined the club...but told to sit back.

If this clown manager prefers not to play to the individuals strengths as hes either incompetent, a dinosaur or both...then may as well sell him and buy a pure defender for £5mil.

Have to wonder how removing quality delivery helps the forward players.

Astonishingly poor management from the clown.

Having said all that, id actually be fine with an u23 potential superstar defensive monster at both right and left back...because of these tactics.

I honestly think he'll be back in the team on Sunday. My bet Monday's exclusion was Benitez trying to play the "we can go on without you" card, I don't think a 28 year-old LB who has been suspect for large parts of this calendar year will have suitors lining up for him in January. So he'd be best placed getting his head down and if it's still not a good working relationship by the end of the season then he can request a move.

We don’t need a stubborn manager at this point. Want to see him on the bench at the very least at the weekend.
This could all have been avoided had Benitez not been so arrogant.

Drop him to the bench by all means. He's been poor recently. Godfrey up against Saka makes sense.

Avoids any story. Can deal with the issue, if there is one, internally then.

But no, Big Bad Boss Benitez has to make a point.

We’ll have no option but to sell Richarlison and DCL soon enough, neither of them will want to stick around here for too much longer. I can’t see Richarlison staying beyond this summer and I think DCL May stay for one season longer.

My big concern is that we sell them, big money comes in and we waste it on dross, similar to the Lukaku situation. With money being so tight here and taking into account the hit and miss record Benitez has in the transfer market, we really need a competent, empowered DOF in before this money comes into the club.
We do have options. Kean, 30, digne 25. Pickford 40. Mina 20. Then 5/10 for your fringe players. Holgate, davies, Gomes, iwobi.
Obviously we need buyers for the above players. Let’s see what happens. But if I was Rafael that’s what I would be targeting.

The problem is who’s now doing the negotiating with no Brands, that’s if he was doing most of it.

It maybe taken out of our hands if Richarlison wants to leave.

Yes doesn’t really make sense, with how full backs are seen in the modern game. But if Rafael wants his full backs to defend, then thats the way it will be.

Again it shows the incompetence from the owner, picking a manager, that doesn’t suit the players we have.

The problem is our defence and 442 system is do not allow for him to attack freely. And if DCL is sill injuried, there is no good target for him to deliver. I dont think Benitez is wrong to let him stick with the defence line.

Blue Bill I'm guessing, Red Benny might be picking the targets but he won't be doing the negotiations imo, for starters if he has time to sit down and do all that then you have to question his priorities, also he is a manager and I doubt has the legal knowledge of all that stuff in drawing up contracts.

Benitez wants speed merchants at the back. IIRC, he wasted no time in replacing Carragher at FB with Glen Johnson when he got to Anfield.

It's been interesting that the player he seems to have been most insistent on encouraging since being here is Godfrey. On the other flank he has Coleman, and he probably knows he's popular and the skipper and shouldn't (just yet) look to replace him. And he's a useful ally.

Digne will make perfect sense in some games when we're on the attack with our tails up and when DCL is in the middle to whip perfect crosses into. But when we're under the cosh we need aggression and speedy FBs to put out fires.

At the prices you quoted, in the current market Digne is probably the only one we could get a buyer for, the others, I fear we would be lucky to get half of what you estimate.

Because of their wages and in the cases of Gomes and Mina their injury record they would be very difficult to move on.

Probably Holgate and Davies the easiest to get a buyer for in view of age, home grown and lower wages, but, we would get pennies for them. Pickford I take out of the equation because when you look at how bad our back ups are he would have to be replaced immediately, no real gain there either.

That IG post is textbook backtracking. It's also a blatant lie.

Trying to claim he "just wasn't selected" and "that's football" is ridiculous. He'd have been at least on the bench.
