It was a red card, he stamped on somebody's face. Doesn't matter if it was accidental, it was a red. We got lucky. If it was the other way around we'd have been outraged if it wasn't a red

But yeah, it was just an unnecessary risk. But look, RB did it to make a point. Fine. He's made that point, why does he need to do it again?
It kind of does matter if it's accidental! But yeah I have deffo seen them given, it would have been incredibly harsh though.

Benitez is a bully. Always has been. I guess that's what works for him. Or did work for him years ago anyway.

4411 when defending which shift to 433 when we attack.

Don't bother coz I'll get more sence out of the lamppost outside my house.
It's not a 433 in attack. I can guarantee that, because I can see the average positions of all of our games, which are based on the touches players have, and at no time has it ever been a 433 in attack except when, in certain parts of games (like on Monday when Gomes came on) he has switched to that shape - and credit to him for the total of 120 minutes of football he has done that so far in, weirdly in games that have produced some better performances.

Three players reps spoke to The Athletic. Two of them played the other night.

Benitez is a crap manager and was challenged by two players as to why he'd been sticking with something that wasn't working.

Mangers need to be challenged. They are paid a lot of money to get things right. 1 win in 2 months. The irony is, all these changes at the club. Well those people would still be there if Benitez was actually decent at his job. There'd have been no protest on Monday if we'd have won 4 or 5 of the last 12 games

And the players are paid just as much to put some effort in and do the basics on the pitch mate!

Digne cant slate the manager whilst putting in stinkers the last 18 months.

I don't have a dog in this fight - the whole club has to improve I just dont see the uproar in a player being left out if he's had a dust up with the manager/leaked stories to the press particularly when said manager is known to be stubborn/lacking of much emotion.

Look at the Mane incident a few years ago mate (and that's just because it's a high profile one that sticks in my mind). Did he mean to boot Ederson in the face? Absolutely not. But he did.

Agree on the second part. Thing is, it used to work for him. It hasn't for the best part of 10 years though.

absolutely

but Benitez himself said after the Brentford game: "The fans cannot complain because the effort is there."

So your argument doesn't stand up does it?

Hopefully lucas sees off the Spanish walrus .
6 games to come before January. Let's see how he manages the squad without him and mina at the back. He's spent the last 6 weeks blaming injuries for results and now he leaves out a first team player who's fit . Wonderful management.
Thing is nobody would bat an eyelid if Digne had been left on the bench v Arsenal or v Palace. He's been out of form, it's fair game.

Benitez created this entire issue by having to make a point. He made that point v Arsenal and, through limited work of the manager's and an awful lot of luck, Everton won that game. Great stuff. No issue with Godfrey LB for today either, Palace have direct, quick wingers to mark.

But we're down to the bare bones as he likes to say, so why compound the issue?

Benitez cares more about winning off field power struggles than 3 points on the pitch. Hes a politician not a manager. I just dont like him.

The effort has been there imo but it hasn't been at times over the last 5-6 years and most of the players have been guilty at some stage of slacking off.

Digne has given the manager the excuse to punt him in January imo so I have little sympathy particularly when other players are just getting their heads down.

If they played like they did week in week out like they did against Arsenal we wouldn't have lost to the likes of Watford and Wolves regardless of the players missing/system - Keane can hold his own against Lacazette but then let Josh King bully him? Not having that.

It’s diabolical management.

You would think a manager who has managed 1 win since September might be slightly more humble and open to listening to his players.

What's Benitez's excuse for one win in 11 games?

Lacazette is an easier striker for Keane to deal with than King, because Lacazette is a different kind of player

And also he is putting his faith today in Mason Holgate who has been worse then digne. Against arsenal he had mina to start. Look at the defensive options we have today. It's crazy to put Kenny and branthwaite ahead of him.
