2021/22 Lucas Digne

I would expect Aubamayeng to be back next game though. I have no issue with leaving Digne out of a game, but I have a big issue with freezing players out. Any issues should be sorted out behind the scenes like grown ups and there should be no childish or petty political points scored by either the player or manager. So what they had an argument, get over yourselves and grow up. This isn't primary school.

I agree but we don't know the full extent do we? Allan apparently also had a run in with the manager prior to the Arsenal game yet was selected to play - maybe Digne called him a FSW and stormed off out of training?

Maybe its true Dignes agent has been leaking stories about the manager/club to the athletic and Benitez simply doesn't trust him anymore?

You can't be slamming the manager (or Digne) until you know the full fachts.

Mangers dont just play one formation. It's shift depending on whether you're defending or attacking.

Your literally showing your level of footballing comprehension by spouting utter nonsense.

Quite a few do play the same system every week. There's lots of managers who do.

We play 4231 every week. Dyche plays 442 every week. Pep plays false 9 every week this year. Liverpool play 433 every week. Chelsea play 343 every week. Wolves play a back 3 every week. Conte plays a back 3 every week.

I could go on and on here. Your point is simply not factual.

I would doubt that lol

But so what if he did. This all sounds like playground behaviour to me and frankly I find it embarassing for both player and manager.

We didn't need people leaking stories for the media to know we were crap. We had our worst run in 22 years. I don't think they needed Digne's agent to make them aware of that. Maybe Benitez just has an enormous ego, a stubborn streak and doesn't like people challenging his authority. You know, all the traits he's shown throughout his managerial career....

Have you watched Everton this season?

He's played 4411 to start every game bar one (v Huddersfield).

I'm not even going to respond to that second point.

Yeh it’s just wildly arrogant to not accept challenge from players; there’s always more you can learn. Unless he believes he’s God’s gift and couldn’t possible be taught anything by a player.

…as Carragher says, he ‘seeks confrontation and he thrives on confrontation’. i think he particularly picks fights with folk he’s not keen on, he will want a subservient workforce in all areas of the club.

I imagine the fan base is the only section he might not be able to control, although the number of new posters supporting him on here does make me wonder.

That's fine.

Don't drop the only left-back from the squad entirely.

Godfrey should have been sent off on Monday. Mina got injured. Who would genius Benitez had played at left-back then?
No he shouldn't have!

Point is still valid though, he could have been.

The answer would probably be Delph which comes with it's own issues.

Don’t worry - they’ll disappear when he does. Many are not what they seem.

We play 4-4-2 in reality

I don't doubt Benitez is stubborn however he's the boss so thats how it goes.

If Digne is daft enough to know that and then either 1. Get into a barmy with him or 2. Leak stories to the press about him/the club then you have to acknowledge Digne has been very stupid.

Under Benitez its "get yer head down and work" which he should have just done.

It was a red card, he stamped on somebody's face. Doesn't matter if it was accidental, it was a red. We got lucky. If it was the other way around we'd have been outraged if it wasn't a red

But yeah, it was just an unnecessary risk. But look, RB did it to make a point. Fine. He's made that point, why does he need to do it again?

Three players reps spoke to The Athletic. Two of them played the other night.

Benitez is a crap manager and was challenged by two players as to why he'd been sticking with something that wasn't working.

Mangers need to be challenged. They are paid a lot of money to get things right. 1 win in 2 months. The irony is, all these changes at the club. Well those people would still be there if Benitez was actually decent at his job. There'd have been no protest on Monday if we'd have won 4 or 5 of the last 12 games
