Lukaku - Love affair over ?

He scored around 25 goals for us in his final season... but he's crap lads

He's too bulky this season if he became leaner he would be lethal, I remember his goals against Bournemouth on the counter and he done them for pace.
You cant be objective and say that he has not bulked up massively. Look at the picture of him when he signed on loan for West Brom and now. He's EASILY put on 2 stone.

*edit* I think I read that as you saying "he's not too big", apologies if that is the case.

He was in every single way the exact same player for us. Exactly the same. He has a close to 1 in 2 goalscoring record for both clubs, and he was equally as bad in general play here as he is at United.

The difference is standards. Evertonians turned a blind eye to him being terrible because we got used to terrible strikers since the early 90s onwards, with very few exceptions. United fans don't do that - their recent history is Van Nistelrooy, Ibrahimovic, Rooney, Van Persie - our recent history is James Beattie, Denis Stracqualursi and Victor Anichebe.

The truth is Lukaku was good enough for an Everton treading water in 7th, and nowhere near good enough for a Manchester United wanting top four/the title.

And for me, Lukaku wasn't good enough for the Everton I wanted - one that has ambitions to compete with the top four. Hence why I was (and still am) very happy we got rid and rinsed United for the money.

Fair!

He is a great goalscorer and he could be a much, much better player than what he is. m

People always look purely at goals when it comes to strikers and as daft as it sounds it's not always about that. In Lukaku's case it seems to be goals at the expense of the rest of the team. What is a team willing to trade off to play him?

A West Brom or an old Everton type team. ;) He can definitely score enough goals to keep someone up but like you say it has to be a team focused on just feeding him.

Yep. In a sad way we were perfect for him. A team with few expectations of winning trophies but a decent status and brand within the game. As long as he was scoring goals for us, people just didn't care. A few of us did of course, but we were always reminded of his goal-scoring statistics.

Bring him home in January

Walcott Siggurdsson Richarlison

Lukaku

Top 6 that especially when Lozano comes in to replace Walcott.

Yeah cos lukaku works a treat when put up front with quality players like pogba, martial, mata......

Oh wait.... ah my bad. Yeah he lacks the brain and touch to play with high level players against better opponents.

His next move is to west ham in exchange for arnie. He needs to play ale house football. Putting him in a team with richarlison, siggy just is gonna infuriate those players.
