Lukaku - Love affair over ?

Yeah cos lukaku works a treat when put up front with quality players like pogba, martial, mata......

Oh wait.... ah my bad. Yeah he lacks the brain and touch to play with high level players against better opponents.

His next move is to west ham in exchange for arnie. He needs to play ale house football. Putting him in a team with richarlison, siggy just is gonna infuriate those players.

And then West Ham would have a 20-25 goal a season striker... but we are the ones laughing apparantely.

When you have Tosun, DCL and Niasse up top you cant be picky and believe me we cant attract a better centre forward than Romelu Lukaku without CL football to offer.

Let's not get giving him the 20-25 striker shout like he's Luis Suarez or Alan Sheared. He has broke 20 premier league goals ONCE.

His average prem goals per season is 16.8

His one time 20 goal season haul puts him alongside the likes of James Beattie and Andy Johnson.

It's a bit of a straw man argument to throw DCL niasse and Tosun as competitors to Lukaku when they aren't even getting a game for us.

We have replaced the position lukaku was standing there doing with a 21 year old Brazilian who cost less than half of what he does and who is 5 times the player.

There are loads of strikers out there not playing CL football who are better than lukaku. It seems that some people are still deceived by this fraud.

Sadly for him whilst he's playing for the mancs the criticism w/o be accurate, cutting and publicised. He was under the radar at out place and our last spot on MOTD

We can't attract Lukaku though mate. There is not a chance he'd come back here.

You are probably right.... in his mind lukaku should be playing for Barcelona and have all the best players in the world wiping his backside for him whilst he taps in from 6 yards. It's called delusions of grandeur and is why he's been filmed behaving like he's Puff Daddy on his summer holidays. He will get sold by the mancs and say he wants to form a strike partnership with killian mbappe who will have to feed him.

I'm not gonna lie. I'm enjoying every single minute of his struggles. Arrogant and never appreciated what we gave him or tolerated from him.

I agree I doubt he'll come back... however his agent has big control and of Raoila cant get a big enough deal elswhere amd Rom wants out of Utd - if we offered the right money / agent fees / wages I dont think it is totally out of question.

Just annoys me how some make out like the lads average - yes he's looking poor at Utd however if he was to lose some pounds / muscle and get lean again he's easily a top quality striker.

There's nothing wrong with having an ego or ambition. I have absolutely no problem with Lukaku having that belief in himself. There's no point being offended by Lukaku for bigging himself up - instead, you should be angry at Everton for perpetuating the myth that a player was bigger than the club by having him destabilise the club every time he opened his mouth and being terrified to put him in his place for it.

I don't personally enjoy Lukaku being crap, and I certainly didn't enjoy it full stop when he was in a blue shirt. Yes, there's a bit of validation at being right about him all along, because at times - especially when he was here - I felt like I was losing my mind at seeing things that were obvious to me but 99% of other Evertonians seemed completely oblivious to. But overall the only enjoyment I get from the situation is that he's crap at another club and we got £75m+ for him.

But similar to Barkley, who I'm a fan of as a footballer, I enjoy seeing Lukaku be crap solely because I don't want any player who leaves Everton to go on and better themselves, as that means Everton have got the short end of the deal. There's nothing personal about it.

Slate him all you like but don't lie and say Tosun is better than him

Lukaku's a much better goalscorer, Tosun's a much better footballer.

That's a statement of fact at this point. And that's not even saying Tosun is an especially good footballer either; I simply don't know whether he is as he's been in the league less than a year. Look at Alexis Sanchez - is he suddenly garbage because he hasn't adjusted to United inside 12 months, despite being obviously a class act?

Tosun will be fully judged over the next 6-12 months, but even as it stands I can safely say he's a better footballer than Lukaku.

So you'd have Tosun over Lukaku for us?

So you'd have Tosun over Lukaku for us?

Yes, as first choice striker anyway. As a 'super sub', I'd rather have Lukaku by a long distance.

I'll explain exactly why - it's because whilst Tosun may or may not be good enough for us long term, he represents the right idea and direction for the club in terms of the type of player he is. We need a player that is part of the team unit and is of high quality, on and off the ball.

As it stands, Richarlison is a far better option than both, but the idea behind bringing Tosun in was sound - it made sense. Building an attacking team around Lukaku and wanting to compete for the top four makes no sense due to the type of player he is.

He looks like he’s been hitting the gym massively. Think back to the goal for us against a arsenal cutting in off the wing, or the one v Chelsea in the cup. He’s nowhere near that level at the moment. It’s strange because Martial Rashford and Lingard have all got better under Mourinho but Lukaku and Sanchez have declined. Personally I think that to play well under Mourinho you have to buy into his ethic completely. His first Chelsea team and his Inter team were willing to do this. Lukaku Pogba etc. always want it to be about themselves first and foremost.

But he weirdly is at that level, because it was only four months ago that he tore Brazil apart playing that same role.

Lukaku could go out next game, absolutely run riot and score five, and I wouldn't be remotely surprised.

Yes, he's gained muscle, but I don't think that's the problem - because the same issues existed before now. Literally nothing has changed about him except he's not scoring the goals to hide the performance.

I’ve not seen him run much anywhere lately. His trademark finish of running side on with a defender then powering the ball through the keeper seems to have deserted him. I agree though that he hasn’t improved his level since moving to United at all which is criminal really given the prospect he was when he was a teenager. He’s had high level coaching for years yet still has a shocking first touch.
