I still don't really understand what's happened to Jelavic. Defenders 'figuring him out' still doesn't explain how he's missed some of the chances he's missed, especially when you consider his finishing ability when he first arrived. It's the most severe, long-term loss of confidence I've ever seen. Really thought he'd be over it by now

Not having this confidence lark, i'm really not.

If the lad was new to the club and not particularly getting much playing time then fine, but no. He finished his first (half) season with us as top scorer in absolutely lethal form, went the Euros and came back complete and utter garbage.

He's played 50 games since then and the so called "iceman" is still unsure of himself and lacking confidence? No chance.

He's just bang average, and his form for us upon signing was nothing but a fluke, the fact that he hasn't done it since proves that.

Chelsea have 5 or so strikers so unless he is injured we have him all season. ( no fear of a recall )

I think our main target next summer is to sign Lukaku on a permanent deal if this loan works out.

There should not be a recall clause involved right?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves...he's wanted to play for Chelsea since he was a kid. Enjoy him while he's here, show him the love and let him experience how boss it can be to play as a centre forward for this club as he smashes them in at the GSE. It's easy to forget he's only 20 with the size of him, so keep that in mind and encourage the good play and let him make mistakes without hurling the wrath of Dixie at him.

I think confidence plays a big part of it. Recently he's had balls coming across the box at shin height and made an air shot, whereas earlier in his career he had the poise to lob De Gea with a header at the far post.

The way that teams set up against us is important too. When he first joined us he scored away at Swansea, Sunderland, Norwich, Liverpool and United and at home to Spurs, Fulham and Newcastle. Arguably he had a lot more space to work in away from home and the defences that we faced at Goodison were not the most watertight.

I think there is some merit to the claim that Moyes ruins strikers too. We very often saw him fetching the balls in the channels and then waiting for his teammates to catch up with play so that he could lay the ball off and get into the box.

He's not getting the same service either. He really had to work for his last league goal, where he turned the defender and curled his shot past Hart. Whereas all he had to do with most of his earlier strikes was to be in the right place to sweep the ball home.

And he's quite a 'streaky' striker anyway. For Rangers he would score for four consecutive games and then draw a blank for a month.

Lack of pace. Teams have just gotten wise on how to defend against him.

Hey guys, Chelsea fan in peace. I hope you don't mind me popping in every so often to see how he's doing.

You've got one hell of a prospect on your hands here and I'm confident that he'll do very well for you (hopefully helping you to deprive our rivals of points in the process). We've got some people close to the Lukaku camp on our forums and the consensus is that he chose Everton on Mourinho's advice, since Everton face a parked bus more frequently than a team like WBA which is going to help him develop his game in similar conditions to what Chelsea have to deal with. His touch and control in tight spaces is still pretty raw, so playing for Everton is going to help him develop that side of his game.

Anyway he's a great lad and you'll come to love him pretty quickly. I've never seen him give a lazy performance, he just seems completely driven and determined to improve - and even when he's not playing well his sheer presence is enough to create space and cause problems which I'm sure your team will appreciate. I hope he helps you in your push for Europe and you [Poor language removed] some title contenders along the way. Best of luck with your season and see you in 10 days.
