at the end of the day its hardly news is it, he's going to be a top top player and whether he elevates us to being a top club (not on his own ofc) or whether he moves away to find a team at his level either way it's going to happen. that being said i do think these interviews are a bit premature / maybe if he was top goalscorer in the league (with us in our current position) they may have been justified.

No player should talk about wanting to play for another team unless he is prepared to put imn a transfer request.

Regardless of how long they have on the contract.

Bobby Martini seems to not have control or respect from the players, he needs to make an example of one of them and grow some.

Very unlikely he will though.

Its something that makes me so confused as a yank. Occasionally(and its getting rarer these days) you have players that are 'too good' for their team/club, but thats what they want. They WANT to make their team better. They WANT to be the guy to drag {team X} into the playoffs kicking and screaming.

Every single football player Ive heard for the last 5 years or so say they want to join a Champions League side. Thats such a load of crap, they want to be handed everything instead of doing ANYTHING themselves to get it. Such a sorry lot of players that feel entitled to something that they haven't done themselves. Especially looking at our squad this year, we SHOULD be fighting for a damn Champions League spot, but instead too many underperforming players(and managers/coaches) have us toiling nearer the bottom than the top.

Whilst agreeing wholeheartedly with your post, American sport is uncomplicared by the international dimension which soccer clubs operate in.

The NFL is the absolute pinnacle of the game and the college draft system means that any player at any team has the chance to win a ring at the team he plays for.

I love the way American sport totally goes against the ethos of the country in general by being almost communistic in the way sport is organised.......whilst here in socialist Europe the richest soccer clubs just keep getting fatter and fatter at the expense of the game as a whole.

So the players are free to moan anout moving to "champions league clubs" as if the moan in itself is a validation of both their ambition and their ability.

I'm led to believe these are comments taken from a Belgian newspaper and then given to us via the Sun.

Forgive me for not joining in the torchlight lynching mob just yet.

Not sure about that mate. Very good post though, I've always found that ironic and admirable in a way.

If we could get a decent fee for him then I would have no problem with selling him and signing Ings on a free. If Lukaku and Mirallas were sold, you'd think we would get about 40million pound, which could get you two boss wingers, and this years extra TV money could then go on a creative midfield player.

Highly unlikely to happen though, not least because nobody in the right mind would want to play under Martinez.
