Lukaku

Pre-injury Yakubu was a far superior footballer with a comparable strike rate, and even after that he went on to score a decent amount for a relegated Blackburn team.

Lukaku is the most comically overrated player I've seen in a long time, and he'll never make it at the sort of club he thinks he should be playing for.
a relegated blackburn team mate, lukaku would score about sixty goals in the championship.

And i think you're wrong, but we both clearly wont agree so best leaving it at that.

Think you need to check yakubu's stats for Blackburn in the PL. 30 appearances 17 goals under a Steve Keane managed team a relegated team. Really really not sure what how many goal Lukaku would bag in the championship has to do with anything. Statistically Yakubu's a better player, and that's because he was. What couldn't he do that Lujaku has proved he can?

Yakubu was comfortably the better striker than what Lukaku is now. Lukaku has more potential to do it at a higher level than Yakubu did, but he hasn't done anything of the sort as of yet.

No sound on my PC here, but if that is the same interview that was shown on the tele, then it seemed to me a case of the reporter leading him down the route of saying he wants out without him actually saying it.

He was at it yesterday with Benteke. The interview is shown in which the reporter asked "Don't you think it's great for your confidence being linked with xyz", to which he gave a non-committal answer about how yeah it is quite flattering but he's concentrating on Belgium, but then that is spun into the headline "Benteke says its great to be linked with big clubs".

I'm not naive enough to think he will be here forever, but its sort of a stock answer for players to say they want to play in the Champions League. I'd be more worried if he said he just wanted to settle for playing in the league every week.

Was wrong regarding yakubu with blackburn mixed it up with leicester, but the fact he went to china.. and no big clubs were after him after such a 'good' season is poingant.

Also he isn't statistically better player, Lukaku has scored more goals, had more assists in less games for us than yakubu has.

This! Papers want to sell papers, online media want clickbait!

Weren't we all certain Kev would never play for us ever again only three months ago?

The biggest thing that he says in that interview whether or not the interviewer led him to or not was the line about playing champions league with a big club and he says 'thats why we're working together'

That for me says he wants a move which is a shame. Maybe we need to start looking at a striker who is also in that inbetween a current top 4 club and a team trying to get there.

Dzeko?

That interviewer led him down a garden path; Rom is very intelligent and was very honest. He doesnt rule anything out which is fair enough because as a footballer your damned if you do and damned if you dont.

We all thought we were lucky to sign him permanently; ROM CHOSE to sign for us because he loved his time at the club and its working out great for him currently; he wanted to come here and was insistent on it being us.
Were a step on his career which is fair enough; we were a step for Jags from Sheff Utd, a get out for Howard from UTD; a team to develop from Arteta.

Anyone who thinks the club have a devine right to keep the best players is sadly mistaken and very much burying their head in the sand.

Hes a brilliant striker; a beast of a guy who will win us more matches than anyone which he has proven in two seasons here.

Yep.

I think people are desperately trying to spin what he's saying by looking at it with blue-tinted specs here. It's clear what he's done - changed agent with the express purpose of getting a move, and these comments are reinforcing exactly that. There's a million different responses he could have gave if he had any desire whatsoever to stay at Everton for next season.

He basically downed tools halfway through the year, give up and gave an agent a call.
