Yeah, its nice the last couple of years Southampton have emerged. Papers have enjoyed pimping their players out too (last year lallana, shaw, loveren, chambers etc.
This year it is clyne, fonte, wanayama, sneiderlin.

Papers love linking the remaining players in the prem to the 'BIG 5'.

tbf they did actually sell them all. we've never sold all our star players like that. gradually one has been sold every 3 or 4 years but that is after 3 or 4 years after the pimping started. or they just stay put like baines.

We'll be left with no decent players left soon it's what happens when you hire a manager who's done nothing in his managerial career other than fluke a pot, took us to midtable with a top 7 squad and now say goodbye to genuine quality players.

People think we can replace them with the likes of Dzeko and Konoplyanka? Lol more like Cleverly and Moses

Hello mate, what do you think of redcoats?

Be boss when he goes to a cl club and rips it up.....and blues crying about once having him....the same fans that think he is pants now

He's a great player but I'm getting tired of him linking himself away all the time. Ok when he was on loan I suppose it's his right, but he's only been here permanently 5 mins.

Agree with the poster that said the big clubs in this country won't touch him. That leaves a big European club like Juventus and I can't see them needing him. So what does it achieve him leaking that he's looking to move on?

You don't take on an internationally reknowned agent if you're happy to stay where you are. It's not as if he's taken him on to negotiate a due contract.

And as in many walks of life, if you're looking elsewhere your mind is never 100% on the job in hand.

But he didn't say he wants to move on. He actually says he's happy at everton. He actually said what we all know anyway that he wants to play at the highest level and win trophies. I have zero problem with that, in fact I wish more of our players had that attitude.

The fella needs to learn when to keep his mouth shut. If he wants to say he's eager to win trophies at Everton, then fine. But that's not what he's saying. He's basically saying that if he feels he can't fulfill his ambitions at us then he's off.

When he's one year into a 5 year contract, that's effing ridiculous! Someone needs to have a word with him and shut him up. If he wants to win trophies, he's gonna have to score more goals. Simple as that. Yes he scored 20 last year but 4 or 5 of them were in UEFA. It's still a good return no doubt, but top teams have guys that score 20 in the league.

I say, if he doesn't learn to shut it, then get rid. I'd take what we paid for him and go get someone else who knows what it means to play for Everton. He clearly doesn't.

*sounds kopite alarm*

Yip, that is what I think.

Big, precocious youngsters tend to stop developing early and they are at their full potential at a very young age.

Norman Whiteside is one example.

Joe Royle never improved much, if any, after his 21st birthday.

Andy Carroll would be another.

You find injuries tend to affect them more.......certainly in the case of those three.....as the frame settles down.

I have this feeling Rom is at his physical peak now but hasn't the wit to realise it himself nor the advisers to tell him to shut up and make the most of the fantastic opportunity he has right now rather than keep looking for jam tomorrow.
I'm surprised you aren't wanting him to force a move and make us the money because if you are right then he will only drop in value.

No - I just don't agree with your argument.

I think every player is different. I'm not sure either how much Rom is going to improve but players like Drogba didn't really fulfill their potential till their mid twenties. You can't say what's going to happen. What you can say is he's just turned 22 which means he has 10 years at his peak and he's already and probably will continue to be a 15-20 goal a season player.

Even if he doesn't improve in a couple of years we won't have lost any money but we will have had a top class striker in that time. If he does improve then money in the bank.

There's a big difference between Rom and even someone like Barkley or Deulofeu. It's not just potential. He's performing at a high standard already.
