we're crying out for a genuine left winger to link up with Garbutt, could be a Baines and Pienaar 2.0. also think that Baines absence could be a blessing in disguise - lets get this lad on a 5 year contract and discuss his options after that

got to put it out there.

Considering the 11 years of Mr i'll avoid Yewtree by never playing a youth player Moyes..............

Potentially 2 of our back 4 for the future was signed by him.

(stones and garbutt for the record)

Bit of a pity our relationship with Moyes is poor, would love it if we could sign extend Luke's contract and send him out on loan to Moyes for a year.

Garbutt's defensive side is his weakness and Moyes could really improve that plus the experience of playing in a different league/country would be great for his development. Since Moyes has few funds at his disposal it could be an arrangement that suited all parties.

I agree, Would be fantastic for us to do that with Moyes being defensively minded.

My one thought is even if we were best mates with him still, Roberto picking the phone up and asking him to play r luke next season to help him defensively won't go down too well in spain lol

lol send garbutt to leeds on loan.

Oh it would never happen but a girl can dream!

But loaning him to Pulis at West Brom might be worth investigating.

when baines is fit i'd either like to see garbutt keep his places and give baines a go in barry's role. or i think the better option would be to play garbutt left mid. would give us some genuine width and quality delivery from the flanks
Or just leave baines out til his chance comes around again

Shame he was [Poor language removed] scared of playing young defenders

Can't remember him blocking a single ball into the box last night. Come up against a winger with good delivery and he'll cost us plenty of goals.
Not saying he's not a good young player as he is, but certainly an area of big weakness there.

A bit like Baines against Leicester recently? amongst others. Maybe the system is to blame more than the players.

Good point, but Baines as been like that his whole Everton career. I just can't understand it when the likes of Baines & Garbutt stand off a player out wide? You have to get tight and either force the man to take you on and beat you or play a pass back, but don't give em the space to whip in a cross!

But we signed Baines at Garbutt's age and tbh I don't think I can remember Baines showing the same capabilities as what Garbutt is currently, especially going forward with his crossing and deliveries from set pieces?!

The lad is still very young and got a lot to learn but already looks to have the potential and talent to be a cracking FB and we need to get him signed up to a long term deal, get him fighting for his place with Baines and then in time, take his place, cos more so than Oviedo, Garbutt is Bainesy's successor at LB for me!
