Player making decision based on what he (or his agent) rightly or wrongly thinks is best for them shocker! Whatever happens, there's very little loyalty left in football these days - both from clubs and from players, not worth getting upset over.

For those getting upset - look over the road and see how their set of fans must be feeling - their best young player is almost openly saying he wants to move on to bigger and better things. Some people on here are fuming because someone who's started about 10 games for us might move on

Exactly. Leeds must be pissing themselves.

Ultimately, the lad wants regular football

If we won't offer him that, it's reasonable that he'd go somewhere else to get it

It's a shame we'll get nothing for him though

Ideally, we'd come to an agreement where he signs something like a 3 year deal, plays one more season with us as back up for Baines (or goes on loan to another team) and then at the close of the 15/16 season he has a sit down with the manager and see's where he's at. At that point, if he still wants out, we get some money for him. If he's happy with the minutes he's got after that point, he may stick around

Footballers live in the now however, so suggesting such forward thinking is usually for naught

Plus, there's unpredicatable things like injuries that make setting out such a clear and rational plan a bit trickier than in other career paths

Get a grip. I know what you're implying, stop being so immature
I'm not implying anything. It's a genuine question: if you're looking at this from an Everton perspective, what recommends him and his actions to be defended so much?

You have to support the club, not the player. He's not being mistreated, the reverse is true. So why would anyone defend that player in all of this?

We will get something for him. It'll go to a tribunal and we can get a few million quid to put toward a player who DOES want to play for us, unlike 'the lad'.
