This. Can't blame him at all for not signing given the circumstances. He's not that young any more and needs to be playing regularly.....I suspect there'll be a Premiership manager willing to take a punt, indeed I wouldn't be surprised if a deal is all but done. Looking at it from his angle, he'll pocket a small fortune and at least double his salary via a Bosman. He'll also have a realistic chance of game time. Bit of a no brainer really.
No you can't but it's also the reason you can't blame Martinez for not playing him.This. Can't blame him at all for not signing given the circumstances. He's not that young any more and needs to be playing regularly.
Playing Oviedo is better for th club.I hope that is not the case. I do not believe in the carrot and stick approach. What matters to me is the good of the club and contract signed or not if it is good for the club play him.
I guess it depends on the circumstances mate. If he's agreed a contract with someone else already then I wouldn't play him.No you can't but it's also the reason you can't blame Martinez for not playing him.
Not necessarily. He would probably earn more money with us than a lower down team and in a years time he when he would be coming back to start here instead of playing for a lower down team. It all depends on Baines and if Bobby would move him into the middle and with Barry and Baines both aging I think that's likely.....I suspect there'll be a Premiership manager willing to take a punt, indeed I wouldn't be surprised if a deal is all but done. Oviedo only has a year left himself on his contract and I doubt he wants to continue to be backup. If Garbutt signed we would very likely sell Oviedo however he is a good utility player so for that reason he might stay but again would Oviedo want that. Its a tricky one,he could sign a new contract and still be in the same situation next year, but Baines is getting older/Oviedo the jury is still out following his horrific injury,on the other side of the coin he could see it as an opportunity to push on with us.
Unless he has signed at this stage that's what you have to assume.I guess it depends on the circumstances mate. If he's agreed a contract with someone else already then I wouldn't play him.

He's still our best LB but IMO a club of such limited resources as us should be looking to get good fees for players before they get too old and decrease in value.I wonder if there's a thought of cashing in on Baines , nowhere near as effective as the last two seasons ???,I'd think then the two lids would be well able to cover the position.
Two internationals? Pah. So what? The lad's played a game in Europe and has a twitter account. It's a no brainer, he has to go to the head of the queue. Bench Baines and Oviedo.Surely he realises that he's got to be patient with 2 internationals battling with him for the same posistion. He needs a year out on loan imo. But following that I think he could come back and be prefered over Oveido. Baines obvs is a whole different beast tho!!
