Man City to sue PL

There has to be enormous pressure on the Premier League from virtually all other teams to absolutely hammer City on their charges. Clubs should be threatening to mass withdraw from the league, form a new division, refuse to play against City, etc. They should make it crystal clear that, if found guilty on even a handful of charges, there is no way that City can remain in the league or return any time in the near future.

There’s essentially only three models:

Everyone can spend the same

Everyone can spend whatever they want

Each club spends in relation to their income

The established elite want the last option because they know no team can gain the sponsorships they have. New insurgents want the second option as they can spend more than everyone else (which is what United and Liverpool did in previous decades). Fans want the first option so their club has a chance of competing on a level playing field.

The PL will ultimately always side with United Arsenal Liverpool and their traditional elite because they make them the most money. City will always be against this view so the two will always be at loggerheads u til such a point that City have their own organic sponsorships but that might be decades of continuous success away still. City could stop winning tomorrow and a lot of their newly gained support and interest would disappear. United have been crap for a decade and they still get ever increasing sponsorship deals.

There's three models, but only one God - money - the end. :(

City showed how classless they were early on after the takeover in their dealings with us over Lescott. Never forgot that.

Disliked them ever since their Maine Road days and the amount of crap you got there as an away fan.

With this I think they know they're now deep in the brown stuff and are trying to get their retaliation in first.

Mad that there's so much money in ad time to sell beer and cars, and turning people into walking signage who pay for the privilege. So much so, that the rules for financing the associated teams are the subject of Wall Street level litigation expenditures.

Welcome to our brave new world. Teams with a shot at silverware to be determined by who strongarms and suborns who in courts of law, and the international system. And you thought that was just for the Olympics.

Is this City setting themselves up for a fall in the 115 charge case?

Surely they can't claim discrimination to a rule that has been voted for by a majority of the league. Especially for a rule that has been designed to prevent unfair spending in a way that only themselves and Newcastle are capable of.

Lose this, and they're in for a proper shafting in November!
