We'll see how we do tomorrow mate, but I'm willing to wager that we will look a lot more confident at the back with Joel in net.

That is the main decision with Martinez that I cannot forgive him for. The bad luck, the chances the attacking players have failed to put away (e.g. Norwich, Swansea, Palace) you can't lay at his feet.

What you can blame him for is his insistence that Howard is still up to the job. Do I think he should be sacked for it? No.

Will he be sacked anyway? No, he won't. So the point is mute. He's going nowhere this season, and I reckon he'll still be here this time next year as well.

You're definitely right about him sticking around. Martinez in/out we're all desperate for Everton to do well.

Let's hope he gets it right tomorrow and sees us to Wembley.

It's a by-product of the social media age.

Everybody thinks their opinion matters and if they put it on twitter or a forum then it's going to happen - fact.

Everybody is entitled to an opinion of course, but yours, mine and everybody else's really matters very little in the grand scheme of things i suppose.

It's good to have debate though, and overall i'd say today has been a lot more balanced as people have calmed down and realised, yeh, we played badly on Sunday, but we've played worse before and we were unlucky.

I'm not saying the league form isn't a concern - as it clearly is because we can't turn this positive football we're playing to results - and for me that is mainly down to Martinez' refusal to drop Howard, for whatever reason.

We've got a big game tomorrow and if it doesn't go as we all hope there will be over-reaction and more calls for Martinez to be sacked... despite getting us to our first semi-final in 7 years and having to go up against one of the best and most expensively assembled teams in Europe...

But yeh, tomorrow or bust...
Good post mate. Logical, calm and measured. You'll be hated for that.

Immortalised no but at the end of the day he's got 2 games to write himself into Everton history forever by becoming the first ever man to lead this club, our club, to League Cup glory
...and a cup final victory over the devils spawn.
