We had a go, away, against a stronger opposition, and came up just short. The performance we've been looking for of late was there, just not the result....but in the big picture, just how important was the result rather than the performance tonight?
Despite our history, do we still place seriousness in the trophy winning capability of Everton FC in 2023, therefore feel disappointed that another year goes by without silverware?....Or do we take some optimism going into Southampton from the display tonight, and at the very least be relieved of any more cup commitments that could cause us further fatigue or injury in what our primary concern should be......STAYING IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE!

When it all boils down to it we are the first prem team out of the fa cup and its another year without any chance of silverware just 6 days into the year. Also no doubt an we will have to watch on as average RS team march to at least one cup final again.

Thought Utd were not that impressive, considering the write-ups they have been getting recently. We played far more adventurous football than the draining safe pass back that we do in the PL against lesser opponents. Thought Gray and Onana really made a difference but Iwobi had a game where nothing was coming off. Maupay worked hard even though he is totally wrong for the system we play.

100%.. even though they both needed to be carried defensively and work rate, they were an outlet that we don't have since.
Richy didn't have their level either but he had complete and utter will to win and a workrate like no other that got him and us into goalscoring situations.
The Kudus signing couldve been difference between relegation fight and europa league fight imo

Rubbish, why stay up just to rinse and repeat next season? Every summer we sell our most creative or promosing player to replace them with journeymen. I fancy a title challenge in the championship for a change. Big fish, small pond spell.

Compared to Brighton it was better, a bit more desire in the first half. Still far from decent, but we were a bit unlucky today also. Had we not been a club in crisis I'd put it down as a bad day, but the own goal and offside goal act like an epitome. Continued struggle.
