Agree in part mate, thing i'm concerned about though, is whilst we are bringing in load s of new faces and pushing out olde ones, to improve the team, come this summer we are gonna be looking at some of them as not good enough and will end up with either no money to replace them or alternatively (and just as worrying) a bloated squad full of players brought in by the manager who he has replaced within a year.

Would rather for example the manager decides on what formation he wants and bring in 'specialists' (to use a mourinho term) for those roles.

Whilst yeah we do have a great goalscorer, the problem still remains if we bring in this lad - of what happens if Roms off form, injured or in a cba mood, we will ultimately have another striekr who cant score as an option...

I don't thing we'll bring in loads mate, but the four or five we get in next month will all improve us.

Come the summer we'll see further transition.

Agree a back up for Rom is a worry, but Gabbiadini would be a better option than Valencia or Kone should that happen

Do we have any player in the squad with his abilities? Hes a linker, hes not a creator, hes not a goalscorer, hes an attacking pivot.

No he isn't. He played a lot as a traditional 'second striker' for Samp as well Zat, and a few times on the left.

He's much more versatile than you're making out, though I don't disagree in his goal-scoring record not been the best.

Him not being anything like Barkley will be why he is his replacement.

I envision lots of balls coming in to him which he can dink on to Lukaku running into space.

He's not really a target man though mate.

He drops deep or out wide and that in turn gives more space to a main striker or him the space to turn and shoot (as Zat is saying).

I think Koeman's aim is to go 4-3-3, and the plan is still to have Barks as part of that 3 - it's whether he can get the consistency to do so.
