Gbamin wasn’t injured when he signed
Mina had a minor foot injury coming off the World Cup, has only missed 10 games and hadn’t had a spell out injured before this current one since last May
Delph - ok fair play on that
Gomes - muscle injury but then didn’t miss a game until he had his leg broke in November, only missed two games after before shut down
Iwobi - wasn’t injured when we signed him, hadn’t had an injury in over 3 years before he missed 7 for us between December and January
Gomes always seems to be susceptible to niggles aside from the leg break. Mina looks that way too. It’s hard to get match fit when you miss training or are “doubtful” regularly. I’ve got no stats or anything but I do seem to think of them as players who have too many injuries

The way people pine over Gana baffles me.

He never improved us.

People only remember his last 6 months.

For a long time during his spell with us (and still now tbf) our centre backs have been criminally exposed.
Running round chasing and harrying everything is good in one aspect of your game, but when you are the prime defensive midfielder you cant be running out of position like Gana did, leaving a massive hole infront of the defence.
If you are going to do that, your passing has to be better.
Henderson does that really well

....I keep mentioning how difficult it is to play that role. Carsley was great at it, Fellaini said he didn’t have the discipline to stay in position.

Our back 4 being exposed is a massive issue because they don’t have the athleticism to cope.

The mid-80s team had Reid/Bracewell axis. Neither were particularly creative or contributed goals, but they hunted as a pair and we had 3 Rolls Royce engines in our back four. It’s not a bad blue print.

He wasn’t a natural number 6 imo, because he wasn’t great on the ball and would give it away cheaply. Was very good at the other things though. The french league and playing for PSG is a different thing all together, but I’m not sure if he’s good enough for a team challenging the top, because once you become a better team and starting have more possession, 60/70% in most games then that type of player, becomes less important.

I disagree about Henderson, I’m not a fan and it’s not a Liverpool thing, I think hes hugely overrated. The minute you start playing from Liverpool and get in the England team, you become twice as good straight away, in the media’s eyes.

He’s been helped by probably the worst choice of available midfielders over a 6yr spell in history, Dier has 40caps I think Delph has over 20. Rice will be next getting to 40, when Harry winks is touted as future England regular, that says it all.

He’s a leader and a winner, I will give him that, but most of the passes he makes our 5yards. And if he was a great defensive midfielder. Klopp wouldn’t have spent 45mil on Fabinho

Don't think that's entirely accurate. You have to look at the midfield partnership as a whole and for the most part it was Gana and Schniederlin. Anytime he won the ball he had a midfield partner slower and unable to pass the ball forward.

You don't finish top for tackles and winning the ball and end up going to one of the top teams in Europe if you're "okay".

As usual with our side or the years, it's been disjointed by good players surrounded by mediocre or unsuitable to consistently get a tune out of them.

He had legs. He would run and run and run and his view of the game was first class, he would break things up before it happened. If his passes was better he would of never ended with Villa in the first place.

much rather him than Snider and co running 2 mph round the pitch.

So his claim to fame is that he ran a lot and is better than Snides.

Glowing.

I hope these Thiago Silva rumours aren’t true. I had hoped we left signing past-it hasbeens in the early 2000s. The signing of Rooney should have been a reminder.
