Exactly mate.
Some idiotic points on here imo. Do lads really think that Carlo haggles down prices etc. ?
Unbelievable.

Not sure Brands does either, we spent 17 million on agent fees to work on the clubs behalf last year.

I see Brands more as a merchandiser setting limits, go between and point of contact/enquiry.

He has been completely sidelined. None of Rodriguez, Allan, and Doucoure could be attributed to him.

Still scant sign of a scouting process leading to any signings either.

Would make you question what he does here and what value he adds.

In fairness Bri both Nkondou and and Brainthwaite look like Brands signings and in the latter's case he looks a really good one as well. Hopefully we are more of these. By all accounts we want the best young players available, which looks the right way to go.

That being said what Ancelotti offers us is a big bonus, and an availability of certain players we wouldn't have got previously. Brands seems happy to go along with that, which seems sensible enough.

I think that is very fair mate, I’d give Brands credit for Branthwaite, that was an impressive bit of business. To be very fair he has been really limited with the recruitment of younger players with the academy ban as well. I think thats up in Oct, so be interesting to see what we do with youth recruitment.

Agree entirely. Get the best of both worlds mate

You could well be correct mate

It might be a really important double act, Carlo the draw for the higher profile player, who had no interest in us previously. Brands capitalising or strategising. I’ve noticed we are telling players to sit tight, reject offered elsewhere, put the selling club under pressure, price reduces - hopefully I’m right, when these deals actually get done (hopefully).

You support Celtic.

We have a tendency to go from one extrene to another. I think Brands is good. Are there better DOF's out there? Yes. Are there worse, undoubtedly (and we had one).

A lot of the best DOF's would be making the situation with Ancelotti very difficult too. Maybe thats what Brands should be doing, but I think for where we are as a club, with the board we have, the fact he can probably put his ego to one side and get on board with what Carlo wants for this summer (at least) I see as an overall positive.

Don't get me wrong, I would prefer a younger, less well known CM to come in next to Allan- rather than Doucoure, but if it can allow us to build a platform, for him to then start adding more experimental and younger players from 2021 summer window that's a positive to me.

As you say, no academy ban, so opportunity to be more aggressive in that area, and I hope and suspect we will see moreNkondou/Brainthwaite signings moving forward. I know we are in a tough spot currently wth FFP, and we will probably have to accept a slap on the wrist and a likely initial punishment (fine, probably restriction of squad if we qualify) but after that, if we can keep adding and playing younger -players quite quickly we will start showing a profit.

He has avoided adding in January too, and that has really allowed for the emergence of Brainthwaite, Gordon and Calvert Lewin at the back end of seasons.

I think likewise mate. Seems a great business model
