2019/20 Marcel Brands

Thats not even close to true, people were posting charts of how little he was involved in buildup and all kinds of things when he was signed, and there were a lot of arguments about it. You're love for Davek not withstanding, as much as he'd love to be the only bearer of bad news, the only 4 who received mostly universal praise were Pickford, Keane, Sandro, and Onyekuru

Seriously, i bet you were praising Klassen as a player and saying how great he was.

He wasn’t a Director of Football. Now there’s certainly a good argument that he just shouldn’t have been given the job, but presumably he also claimed that he could do the job. He demonstrably couldn’t.

As for Koeman, he worked with a DoF (albeit with a slightly different title) at Southampton with a reasonable amount of success.

No one is saying Walsh can’t identify players - his career says he can - but he wasn’t employed to be a scout.
The fact that you'rre prepatred to give that Dutch disaster any sort of defence sums up your position: it's bankrupt.

His job here was vastly different to the 1 he had there.

You only have to compare and contrast the job he did to the 1 Brands has done in 6weeks.

Walsh bought players with an average age of 29, Brands bought players with an average age of 23.

Its chalk and cheese.
Let me just stop you at that point there and laugh in your face. Walsh brought about 3/4 players in the whole time he was he here who you could tell weren't the overpriced and over-aged trash Koeman was obsessed with.

I think his most important decision was the signing he didn’t make
As @catcherintherye stated in a post when he walked away from the Tierney transfer ( which I really wanted ) he told the world he won’t be messed around and he will not overpay or deal on other clubs terms
Compare this to Siggys signing last summer ( I rate Siggy by the way and think he will shine this season ) where we wouldn’t walk away and it shows that this man knows his job and has a well respected reputation.
The links with Barca ( yes Dave I know Bobby got there first ) could prove to be very useful in the future either in loans for younger players / players who haven’t quite cut it there or outright purchases

Walking away from deals in a clear manner is important. In any negotiation you have to weigh up if you think you can get to a deal, that involves more skill than just continuing to reiterate your demands.

The eye catching stuff will be later in the window, but that sequence of agreeing terms with Tierney, walking away from the deal, signing Digne was the most important section of the window for me.

I think he is a pivotal figure for us, and could go on to have as much influence as Klopp does for Liverpool for us. Very important and influential signing.

Sound it was all Koeman.

Im not even arsed at this point whos fault it was, its Marcels time now.

Under Marcel there is no doubt who signs ALL the players and dont bother telling me Richarlson is a Silva player, cos hes not.

A new dawn and hopefully given time leading to a bright blue sky.
