WOW! Talk about taking a punt

Switch from Walsh with his years of experience in the Prem to a guy who's spent his career in Eredevisie, which is proven to be not a patch on our league

Very odd choice if this is true.....

Will be a double punt if Fonseca follows
Let’s just keep Walsh & sam then. We’ve only ever appointed from the prem league or championship with Moyes. And that’s worked out well.

Let’s try a different route for once. And let’s be honest what advantage does prem experience have when buying players. All us fans can spot a good Premmier league player. And they cost a fortune. The only thing Walsh will have over Brands is academy football in this country. And I’m sure we have loads of scouts in this country, so that shouldn’t change.

Saying that, the decision makers don’t get many wrong, regardless of what you and I think.
They get plenty wrong. Weren’t Baines and Jagielka dropped from our academy? Then there was Mustafi and Dier. Sigurdsson didn’t get past his trial as a kid.

High profile examples at other clubs... Pogba at Manu? Lukaku, Salah and De Bruyne all let go by Chelsea.

Neither of those two are as promising or talented as Dowell.

Hopefully a new manager coming in will appreciate what we're producing.

None of those two? You have highlighted 3 players. I'm assuming you refer to DCL and mason as stones was a top top talent and IMO more talented than dowell

Philly K of the Echo, who is the Scouse Pulitzer of transfer rumours, says no but Telesport.nl says yes. What a start to the day.

Everton retain Marcel Brands interest but no deal close
PSV transfer chief on Everton's radar but reports of deal being imminent wide of the mark

Marcel Brands remains on Everton’s radar but no decisions have been made over a potential recruitment revamp. Reports on Wednesday morning claimed the Blues could appoint the PSV Eindhoven Sporting Director later this month.

The Dutch side are seven points clear at the top of Eredivisie and could clinch the title on April 15 with a win over Ajax. But the ECHO understands that although Brands is of interest to Everton they have made no decision over appointing him.

It is also understood there has been no official contact between the Blues and PSV over Brands. The role of Director of Football Steve Walsh has come under scrutiny but with six weeks until the transfer window opens, planning for the summer is already underway.

EVERTON IS FULL FOR BRANDS
PSV must prepare for a departure from Marcel Brands. The technical manager (56) is the last remaining candidate to become 'director of football' at Everton. Gerard Nijkamp (PEC Zwolle) and Max Huiberts (AZ) are the obvious names to take over the technical helm in Eindhoven.

PSV does not yet take a concrete interest in the succession of Brands, but will have to think carefully about the scenario that next season not only the team, but also the position of board member football affairs must be filled. The Eindhoven club management emphasizes that Everton has not yet officially reported for Brands. Only when that happens, PSV itself actively searches for a successor.

The Brands contract will continue until mid-2020. For the Premier League club, however, this is not a problem financially. Brands has never made a secret of his ambitions to work abroad. Billionaire Farhad Moshiri, the club owner of Everton, wants the former 'td' of RKC and AZ to determine the technical policy at the second club in Liverpool.

That Nijkamp (48) is well placed in the Netherlands is well known. He was in the picture as technical director at the KNVB, but that job passed his nose at the time in favor of Hans van Breukelen. Nijkamp has been technical director of PEC since 2012, which since then won the first big prizes from club history with the KNVB Cup and Johan Cruijff Schaal in 2014.

Last year he succeeded Brands as chairman of the Technical Platform Eredivisie. Huiberts (47) has held the technical management position at AZ since the beginning of 2016. Brands and PSV's general manager Toon Gerbrands previously traveled the route from Alkmaar to Eindhoven. The name of John de Jong as successor to the crown of Brands also passes by, but at the moment he functions excellently as head scout at the leader in the Eredivisie. PSV does not want to anticipate things and only with a definitive departure from Brands to the table with one or more candidates.

..I said released at U23. I think Baines and Jagielka were released earlier than that, perhaps as Schoolboys. Dier was on loan and decided to go back, I don’t think he was released. The others you quote were not untried youngsters, just mistakes in transfer market.
