Giving someone an effective demotion in lieu of the sack / clean break is a strategy that rarely works, from my own observations anyway.
Walsh has been a categorical failure in the DOF role, and IMO it's best that we start afresh.
If Brands is joining, he should have the final say on all football-related appointments. It wouldn't be a particularly good start retaining Walsh on the staff as a continuance of the old boys network, and people in jobs at the club on a nod and wink basis.
We need a proper clearout, a full rebuild, and proven failures to be replaced.
