..it seems increasingly the way to go in the modern game. I’m not sure there are many high-profile managers out there who are totally responsible for on-field strategy as well as managing all transfer activity.
All the more reason for us to do it differently
It will automatically make us more attractive to the better managers as they'll know they'll have more freedom here

Due to this I feel a DoF is necessary to create a continuity of vision.
...good point. Managers will come and go but the right DoF will maintain continuity.

If you don't have a DoF these days, you limit yourself to only being able to appoint managers who aren't used to working in that setup.
Right now there's a fair few of those around... over time that number will become less and less.

@Mikey_Fitzgerald the problem with NOT having a DoF can be seen when we went from Martinez to Koeman. We had to change almost literally everything about the way we play. The DoF is supposed to maintain the way we play by bringing in the players (and staff) that can achieve that.
