Well people certainly wont be giving him any credit if we finish above 8th, that's all I know.
All of the blame, none of the praise.
The only metric should be has the squad improved and anybody who answers no is lying.
I think he would be due some praise if we got the Champions League.
Moving us up from above 8th place should be a minimum expectation. Anywhere in the Europa League would mean hes done an acceptable job improving the squad but not an outstanding one.
Your assuming the rest of the league has stood still, which it hasnt.
Ancelotti currently has the best record of 99% of previous Everton managers, but Carlo will get all the praise for that.

Any offer of an extension would seem very premature.
Europe has to be achieved this season and if not, it seems an opportune time for a review of Brands' appointment and where things are headed.
You have to be pragmatic and I think he is here for the medium-term at least. Yes he walked into a storm but after 3 years asking for Europa League is hardly the holy grail.

Delph was a major gamble, that's backfired massively
Iwobi is just a jokes footballer, if we paid 5m for him we would have been mugged
And that's it for me, 2 glaring mistakes.

Paid 18m for the best Left back in world football
Paid zero pounds for Hamez, the best player in world football
Gave DCL a platform to perform
Paid big money for Rico, who has shown his talent and more than paid for his fee
Paid a mere 20m for Godrey, Doucs and Allan
Invested in Kean, potential STONKS
So 2 glaring errors and 8 astute bargains

I'm not assuming that. His job is to improve us relative to the rest of the league.
Any argument about us improving falls flat if we are finishing in 8th or lower. You can only judge our improvement in relativity to our performance vs the rest of the league.
If we are finishing in the same position we were in before he got here then he hasnt improved us.
If we finish 7th nobody will be praising him.
For me his job is to improve the squad, blaming him for us having Marco Silva in charge isn't really fair.
Nor should they if after spending 100s of millions and increasing the wage bill we only go up one place.
That would hardly be an outstanding performance from him.
Where we finish this year has nothing to do with Marco Silva.
All this expectation of European football is really amazing to me. In the past 10 years we've been in the Europa League twice. If we manage it this year or next it'll be a big achievement.

Anyway, I'm so done with defending Brands, people wont be moved on this subject, minds have been made up.
I don't think hes been a massive success, as I say, mistakes have been made, but for me the squad has been improved and that's his only job really.
Its not his job to finish higher than 8th, cos hes not a manager.
Improvement yes, but I would have hoped for more progression with the money he's spent.
Too many technical players and not enough grit would be my main criticism. He needs to move players on this summer and get whoever Carlo wants.
