The silence is deafening around his contract.

All the usual journo suspects who leaked his 're-signing' a few months ago have no answer as to why he hasn't signed.

Hopefully, that can only be because the owner has rightly waited to see where we are at the season's end to judge his 3 year performance. Anyone thinking it's been good enough given what was spent is setting the bar at *traditional* low Everton expectation levels. He came here in order to transform us...and he hasn't...not by a long chalk.

People complaining about injuries, but we did choose to sign Delph, Gomes, James, Allan, Mina.. all either injured or recently injured when we bought them.

If we dont finish at least 7th I'll be shocked if he is offered a new deal.

Moshiri will want blood after going from top 4 to no europe and Carlo wont be getting booted just yet.

3 years into his project and not only are we in exactly the same position, but most of the Walsh/Koemageddon dross is still here lingering around in some capacity. I think his position has to be under consideration at this point.

West Ham set up the DoF model under Manuel Pellegrini and it failed miserably. They spent a fortune on a load of crap (sound familiar) and where a club going absolutely nowhere. They have now scrapped the whole system and given Moyes complete control of transfers. Moyes and Ancellotti obviously aren't comparable because Moyes goes to watch League 1 matches on Wednesdays when he should be spending time with his kids, treats a transfer budget like it's his pension and probably sleeps under his desk having spent all night watching Slavia Prague Vs Liberec.

Carlo is not the type of manager to start doing any of that, but if we were to appoint a top football executive and establish an excellent scouting network, there is no reason why our recruitment would be any worse than it already is. David Gill at United or David Dein at Arsenal were never 'Directors of Football', Adriano Galliani who Carlo worked with at Milan wasn't either. They were just top football operatives who knew how to operate the market expertly and provide the managers with the players they asked for.

Whether a system could work like that here, who knows. It's probably a job that Marcel Brands could fulfill himself to be fair as I think he is quite a shrewd negotiator. However the players he has identified and brought to the club have left me massively underwhelmed.

I've said it before but it becomes more pertinent by the week. You can't possibly think both Ancelotti and Brands are doing good jobs. Either Ancelotti is underperforming with a decent squad or Brands has failed to recruit players who can improve us. We were 8th the season before he took over, we're 8th again now, and we certainly don't have a squad full of young lads ready to bloom. It's crazy seeing people defend both of them, it really makes no sense.

Good for a few star signings, useless at building an actual TEAM. Apart from a couple or three good ones, he's left us criminally short ALL OVER THE PITCH, season after season. I've never seen such overall bad recruitment. Any other job and he'd have been laughed out after one year.

It's a bit of both and you are also forgetting the players in this. They are happy to plod along too. We have actually progressed this season (the summer recruits were pretty good) from last season but there are still massive holes in our team we have an entire right hand side that isn't good enough not one winger fit for purpose and a midfield that lacks dynamism and physicality. Yes injuries haven't helped but Brands hasn't helped himself with some of his decisions Iwobi, Delph, Gomes, Gbamin too(through nobodies fault)are awful buys when you consider their impact. As for our youth system it's not working.

I think they will keep him, but based on his performance over the three years, I don't think he merits a new contract. I don't like the style of player he goes for because we are a team who play an aggressive style, not slow passive football.

I mean i'm not really forgetting the players am I. It's the whole point of my post. Either the players are good enough to do better than this or they aren't. Either Ancelotti isn't getting the most out of them, or we haven't bought good enough players. I don't really know how to make it clearer.
