2020/21 Marcel Brands

21 brought in by Brands
In comparison Steve Walsh btought in 23
Walsh's signings have recouped approx 70 million with the potential for more in DCL.
Richarlison apart, I cant see much money coming in from Brands' purchases

Godfrey?
Digne could have been sold for big money
Nkounkou + Branthwaite could be good

The issue is with the players like Iwobi, Delph, Gomes and now these 3 who Benitez has signed.

It looks like we allow managers to sign players in tandem with the DOF

Funnily enough have had this same convo before on here. People just conveniently ignore the crap other teams buy.

I get what you’re saying and I agree that other teams definitely waste money, but Perez and Ineanacho are decent signings at that price. The pair of them would be 2 of our better players and would bring a decent fee in if sold. Yet they’re used as rotation options by Leicester.

We do seem to have wasted the most in recent years on a squad that isn’t very high in value, other than maybe DCL, Digne, Godfrey and Richarlison.

A lot of teams go through stages where they squander money on crap, we’ve just done it to a level where we can’t get ourselves out of it by spending more due to FFP.

Ayoze Perez for £30m is not a decent signing. No shot you believe that.

It's confusing, he just buying players on the manager wishes instead of having al long term template. No wonder our team don't blend together when we change managers so often and end up with players who don't fit.
DOF model only has a chance to work, if they have the say in everything on the football side. We can all see this ain’t the case with brands. Farhad is calling the shots managers wise. Can’t see brands picking Rafael, nor Carlo. I am no means sticking up for brands but it just pointless having him. He is on a big wage so I don’t blame for jumping ship either who would in football. And to get these managers in they would of been promised certain guarantees in the transfer market.

He's not able for this football club. He just isn't.

He's an extra layer of bureacracy that makes no sense and it's clear now he's hindering us in the transfer market...he can only attract players by offering massive wages and their clubs massive fees to let go of them, and that isn't available as an option anymore.

He needs punting ASAP if we're to face "the great reset" and cope with it.

How accurate this is im not sure but here we go.

In work, we have what we now call the 'Marcel Brands' factor.

Some anonymous, but highly paid, functionary with the gobbledegook title of 'Head of corporate purchasing and ongoing progression of strategy affairs'.

He purchases obsolete, but expensive, computer systems, which now sit in boxes in the top floor storeroom.

He recruits 'high flyers', who ring in sick after 2 day's work, and are never seen again.

He periodically sends us all emails, outlining how he is 'scouring the globe' to enhance our corporate growth, and identify worldwide
market opportunities.

He was last physically seen in the office in December 2020, where he jammed the new photocopier, got everyone's name wrong, and told us that we were set to 'conquer the world'.

He's just been given a new improved 2 year contract.

;)

I am stealing that mate. I know a few suspects I could use it on already.

If he’s getting overruled on everything related to the playing side then maybe it’s better he just be on the board for the stadium and do the PR work for the signings, just quietly remove the DoF role but keep the scouts in place

I wish the club would publish the official version of this, then you would know the exact amount of anger to direct towards each player.

I dont think it would be too far away from what this says.

Why would we need to offer Doucoure 120k a week to lure him from a relegated Watford when he was probably on 35-40k if that....
Gomes 140k a week :hayee:
