I hope what has been happening behind the scenes comes out in the not too distant future. It sounds like total chaos. I believe brands has been incompetent, but I also think he has a story or two to tell (unless he signs some sort of non disclosure) when they bin him. I think benitez should be binned also, as well as kenwright and baxendale, but that won't happen. This is a game of 'let's pick a scapegoat'.

No chance Kenwright is going anywhere. He'll be at the club until he physically can't do it any more. Everyone else will go before Kenwright.

He should have quit the second Moshiri started undermining the role.

The fact he didn't and has spent most of his time here twiddling his thumbs and sucking the teat means he gets no sympathy if shown the door.

That said, somewhere in a parallel universe there is a Marcel Brands that was granted adequate authority and left to get on with his job. That parallel Everton are on course to finish 4th, have a clear blueprint and ethos and have the right people in place from the academy up to sustain the improvements shown.

What has unfolded here is a tradgedy of an entirely self inflicted nature and the people at the root of it all won't be going anywhere.

For me, I doubt whether sacking Brands will fix the root issues if Moshiri and the managers still aren't expected to work to some form of coherent, long-term plan.

I'm not saying Brands is blameless, but it's been clear that each manager has influenced the transfers alongside the owner making purchases at will.

We need to have a DoF who can do exactly what the job entails - direct the footballing side of the club with style of play, purchases and appointing managers.

Agree it's scapegoating the board if he's sacked to try and appease the fans ( won't work)

But we're talking about a feller who spent 35m on iwobi.

His only attempt to replace Lukaku who we lost what 4/5 years ago was a kid from Italy who never played and still hasn't signed a RB to replace Coleman

He's every bit to blame as the rest

Moshiri was at Arsenal.
Moshiri likes meddling.
I bet Moshiri wanted Iwobi from Arsenal.

“I have always made sure I am giving the right time and effort to the Academy because it is a hugely important project for the Club. We have a proud history of homegrown talent and it is so important we continue to give our young players the opportunity to progress into the first team.

“The most important thing for us is to make sure our supporters are proud of Everton. And there is so much pride in seeing good football being played that wins games - with homegrown players part of that success.”

This was a direct quote from brands back in January 2020

If this is actually what brands believes in then it would appear that there is some kind of disparity between management and the director of football

Why did the director of football agree to sign rondon if he truly believes that homegrown talent deserves a chance? Of course Benitez wanted to sign him but he is the director of football, he could easily say no and to give youth a chance. I know simms was injured at the time, maybe dobbin was as well so I guess they had to dip into the market for some backup who knows

is the real issue here Brands? or could it be the board not giving him the freedom to run the club the way he wants?

also remember this?

wonder what the outcome of the vote would be now

maybe we all owe tom cannon a big apology
