Marcel Brands

Truly talented people understand that sometimes an organization isn't a good fit. Indeed, that sticking with them will do much more harm than good in the medium and long term.

You have to back your own ability. I'm sure Brands will have no problem doing just that.

Spot on. In public roles it's all about reputation management.

See Steve Walsh for example. Completely torpedoed his own career by overseeing a disaster and not managing his own reputation. Brands has done the same, but by staging his exit the way he has he'll bluff his way into another role.

According to Dutch football talk TV show Rondo he's high up on the list of people to become the new Director of Football at KNVB.

So from Everton and having no real power to running Dutch football. Outstanding job everyone. lol

The amount of people who fail upwards from here is honestly staggering. An absolute trademark of the Moshiri reign.

Fundamentally this reminds me of another of my favorite teams. The similarities are so striking. The owner kept paying someone to be in charge, but instead got involved in some of the biggest decisions, and the fanbase could never work out who was actually responsible for this player or that player. Coaches and management would leave and have great success elsewhere, and eventually the news reports would come out, and it would almost always be the owner was the one who actually forced them into decision X or getting player Y. I have no doubt Brands made mistakes but I think all fans would love to know exactly which signings were his, which were Moshiris and which were the managers.

The reality is now with this many years gone, its all on Moshiri, any success he doesnt now have, because of DOFs or Managers or whatever is purely because he either didnt hire the right people or didnt allow them to do their job. His firing of Brands does mean there isnt a scapegoat left, either Everton all of the sudden starts to become successful or its really just Moshiri and everyone else is a casualty along the way.

Reading a lot of people saying Brands wasn't allowed to do his job, he's been made the scapegoat etc and feeling sorry for him...

Well he was happy enough to sign a new 3 year deal wasn't he.

Only time will tell if Moshiri and Bill were sticking their noses into his job which prevented him from being successful.
Was he allowing managers to cherry pick certain players (James Allan Rondon Townsend) or didn't he have a say?

Anyway Farhad load that gun with 3 more bullets for Benitez Bill DBB, once you've done that the rest of 'The boys" will be out in no time.

I think he was allowed to do his job to a large extent. Majority of the players are still signed by him.
He did on most part signed a lot of the players that put us in FFP position - Moise Kean, Yerry Mina, Gomes, Gbamin, and Ben Godfrey. None of them are really working or worked out, even when fit.
Iwobi signing was pressed on by Moshiri but did Brands recommended him in the first place? If he did, that's poor judgment too. If he didn't, why the owner felt the need to step in? It was because he failed to sign RW on time for the first team (sounds familiar?)

Apparently, Brands also thought it was too expensive to sign Richarlison. If he got his way, he wouldn't have Richarlison.

This season, I think that Brands have no say but we did spend the least in the entire EPL.

Anyway, it's a sacking that will not change the results on the pitch. But at least we move on from someone who didn't do a good job and from someone who feels disconnected at Everton.

This isn’t true. Read the echo article.

He was the one advising against wasting all that money. He wanted to take things in another direction.
But you think the echo article is 100% true? Yes, Brands may not control what he wants but he is one of the member in the board. Was he successful to offload the player and get back the money we invest? Not really… Did he realise the injury prone of Gbmain? Did he try to promote more young players to 1st team? Not really. He needs to take some of the responsiblities of our failure structure. Even Benitez will leave soon if we still do not improve.

It wont change the results on the pitch tonight or for the rest of season but it will over time.
Regarding Brands signings how many of them will be sold at a profit? or we build the team around? I'd say none and only Richarlison will be sold at a profit and he was Silva's man. For me it was absolutely the right decision for him to leave the club.

We shouldn't stop here though and I'm hoping this is just the beginning of a massive clear out.

The protest tonight should be good as it shows to the board that not one person is the issue here, Kenwright is so deluded that he probably thinks this protest wont happen now they have got rid Brands.

Agreed. Not going to change the results but it was the right decision. Even Denise Barret-Baxendale is now seeking "alternative employment".
Kenwright is probably harder to rid of.

But giving more power to Benitez also doesn't sit well with me.
It's really is like choosing between two evils - we keep Brands, the same stuff happens all over again....We keep Benitez, is not convincing either.

It's really a difficult period for us fans. We really deserve better than this.
