The big problem which is entirely on him is we don't sell anyone for a decent amount of money and the mistakes in recruitment are just left to rot and we don't generate any cash.

Walcott - 20M and left on free
Bolasie - 24M and left on free
Williams - 12M and left on free
Schneiderlin - 24M and sold for 2M
Tosun - 20M and running his contract down

He didn't sign all of them but its his job to get rid of the players who aren't good enough and replace them in the squad with better. When we sold Klassen after 12 months we got half our money back, once we know a player isn't good enough we should sell if we take a hit so be it as it's better then getting nothing and loaning them out for the remainder of the contract.

The best deal we are going to get for a player leaving in years is going to be the tribunal fee for Small!

If you owned a club would you pay cash for Tosun with his wage demands? Genuine question.

The only decent fee I can recall receiving was when we sold Gana, and he was a player we probably could've done with keeping hold of.

I honestly think this has been a very difficult job considering some of the dross he's inherited and the fact we've gone through 3 managers in 4 seasons while he's been here. How can he have a strategy with the manager changes who all want different types of players. I think with Ancelotti he was working with one hand behind his back, and he's had no influence at all on this window. but he is meant to be the sole architect of our problems. Someone explain because I am missing something here.

I like how nearly everyone has woken up to how useless he actually is.

Only the die hard Kool aid drinkers left fighting his corner now.
He’s just another example of how useless we are at running a club.
We are useless at signing managers, buying and selling players, merchandise deals, even ticketing at times.
The only thing we seem to be good at is the community work and schemes, which are completely separate.

Brands has had an almost impossible job trying to clear up the Walsh/Koeman mess. OK he's made a really bad buy in Iwobi and 2 that have turned that way in Gbamin and Delph. However in the summer pretty much all the garbage that he didn't sign will be gone so it will be all on him from there. He really needs to get the right players in.

Weve been in for players and then ended up with sjgnings who are a totally different profile to the 1st choices.

Doucoure and Godfrey last year were great signings but Godfrey is very different to Gabriel...doesnt seem like theres much of a strategy being used.

He cant even sell players hes signed. Thats bizarre.

Imagine that last summer Ancelotti credited him with Godfrey and Doucoure.

Then this summer weve gone for all Benitez players in Lonergan Begovic, Townsend, Gray and Rondon.

The managers have all had different favoured formations and styles...he should be in charge of hiring the managers all playing a very similar style and system.

Theres no playing identity at the club since hes been here. Whether thats on him and/or Moshiri he should have made this his responsibility when he took the job.

I don't think there is any strategy as we still haven't signed a RB of quality which we have needed from before he was even here. The year we bought Richarlison we also brought in Bernard and we already has Lookman. It seems we just go out and buy players then hope they can fit in.

He didn't sign any of those. The person who signed those players on big money contracts are to blame there. As a player would you join a club (presumably a side or backwards step seeing they didn't show at this level) who will pay you much less? Because those didn't.

Brands has done the same with one player James, but that was to keep Carlo sweet. Understandable at the time as we didn't know he was just going to jack it in after the one season.

….if you buy ordinary players for extraordinary amounts of money & put them on superstar contracts they become impossible to shift. It’s not rocket science.

The issue is buying poor quality rather than not being able to shift it.

This is the 'best' side we can put out:

Pickford
Coleman Mina Godfrey Digne
Doucoure Allan
Townsend Richarlison Gray
DCL

If we had two top players on the right hand side then we'd actually have a very strong first eleven.

The concern is that if any of those 9 players picks up an injury or a suspension the drop off to their replacement is enormous.

Mina's contract shouldnt have been allowed to get down to 1.5 years. I hope that its been extended before the summer.

If we can just get into the top 6 this season then we may be able to kick on in terms of team/squad building...but id not be surprised if certain players wanted to leave next summer if we dont make Europe.
