This comment makes me think you have an agenda against Tosun. He plays well but gets overshadowed a bit by the speed merchants around him. I think he adds perfect balance to our attack. He may not score as many as the Ricki/Theo/whoever axis but he plays an essential part. What he isn't, in this league is an out and out goalscorer. He will convert a fair amount of chances, but his link play is very good, and compliments the others up front perfectly. I should imagine Silva sees lots in him besides goals. I think his place is determined by the goals being scored around him, not necessarily his own goals total.

Yeah, I mean if we played a pacey striker, someone like Walcott there with richarlison and lookman on the wings, would Walcott be holding up the ball and playing the wingers in on goal etc? I think it's an option but I don't think it'd be as fruitful than tosun up front.

The season is just starting yes, but if after the break these players are still "2 weeks off" then that's cracking on for October before we've had any benefit from them...at that point I'd question the wisdom of bringing a clutch of players with injuries in.

Gomes was hoping to be ready for this week, but he's had a set back. It happens.

Mina has been brought in on a 5-year deal. Why the hell would we not sign him just cos he had a knock which could keep him out for a few weeks?

Oh, I must be old fashioned, but I actually hope that when we sign players they're not fighting off months long injuries.

Must be just me who wants them on the pitch and not staying two moths of the season in the treatment room.

Disagree Dave, there's a dearth of talent out there and if we have the option on a player the manager wants then it would be stupid to let a short term injury kill the deal and you know it.

Agree we bought mina on a five year contract, if he only plays for four years and ten months of that I'll be pissed.

We have to be braver at home. If you have two central midfielders in the game, one of them has to join the attack against the likes of Huddersfield. They also have to pressure them into making mistakes. We played like the away team in the second half, and it was sad to see.

Gomes, everyone knew he was injured!
Mina, well not so sure. However, when Trippier signed from Burnley for Spurs, he went from being the fitest at Burnley to be being told it would take him 4 months to be fit to be considered for the Spurs first team so maybe something similar. His absence is spotlighted because of Keane and Jags situation and zonal.

But Mina has been signed as our long-term defensive solution.

In the grand scheme of things, what difference does three weeks make?

That was my point.

With Gomes, it's unfortunate that he's had a set back. If he hadn't, we'd have had him back in the squad now or at least fully training. It's a shame, but it happens.

It's a long old season, stop doom mongering.

Mina has a foot injury. It's only small. He'll be back after the break mate. Then it'll be about building up his sharpness. I'd be surprised if he isn't on the bench v West Ham.

No, actually, I kind of think you hope that, because it gives you something else to complain about.

In fact, I think the board does it just that way purely to get under your skin.
