That was my point.

With Gomes, it's unfortunate that he's had a set back. If he hadn't, we'd have had him back in the squad now or at least fully training. It's a shame, but it happens.

It'd be an issue IF after the break they are still not available. I didn't say it wasn't worth signing them, just that there would likely be raised eyebrows concerning the purchase of three players who were all less than 'good to go'.

Silva will be gone by March, he is best described as 'clueless'. We may joke about the Watford manager but he is making something of the team that Silva couldn't. Everton require a manager with some success at the correct level on his cv. He is not the man for us.
 

Nothing is won or lost in August contrary to what pundits/media might tell you. We lost the first two games in league winning seasons before. Silva needs his own players (most of which he can’t get on the pitch) and time to work on his style of play. The difference already between Zouma Digne and Jagielka Baines is huge. Richarlison has been a boost. But until he can get players for then he has to deal with players who have seen off four managers, who struggle with crossing balls, who can’t follow basic defensive instructions, who can’t finish under pressure. It’s an unfortunate truth but a lot of the players in this squad now that the window has closed will regress back to the bare minimum that they’ve given previous managers.

Silva and Brands have obviously been complete autonomy by Moshiri to clear the decks of anyone who doesn`t fit in with their footballing model.

I suspect that anyone who resorts back to the " bare minimum " may be looking for a new club come January.

People were crying for Pellegrini because he has some success on his CV. Thankfully we didn't go for him.

I think he will come good at West Ham given a little time and patience,

They’ll get the first win soon. They play at Goodson in a couple a weeks.
We love letting people break their losing runs or scoreless streaks. Everton int it.
