The difference is mate Martinez had clearly lost the dressing room and we were in freefall. Had he not swung the axe we would have certainly drifted towards the relegation spots.

I dont think Silva has lost the dressing room (yet) so long as the players are playing for him and we are getting the odd win in 5 to keep our heads above water the board will stick by him imo.

It'll be interesting to see what role Brands has in this, does he have power to hire and fire like other DOF or is it still Moshiri's call? Considering Mosh appointed Silva and Brands had not input in it I wouldn't like to guess tbh.

Ah but you said the board are happy with finishing 9th-11th so by your logic they would have ignored the unrest and let him continue no?

Brands actually did have a say in the Silva appointment considering we wanted to bring both in last season

So Wolves is the benchmark? A couple of extra points and you’d be happy?!

Instead of talking in tongues, be specific. What are the criteria by which you’d have judged Silva to have had a satisfactory start?

Of course our benchmark isn't wolves that's ridiculous but the bench Mark isn't sitting 10tg or whatever we are half way through the season with the money we have invested yet again in the summer

I just don't get where we are going. We haven't even had a notible win yet this season. It just seems the same old Everton but with a far better team ( which makes it more frustrating)

What’s easy to forget is Wolves are a little further down the way with their plans. They already had some boss players coupled with a team that had played together for some time.

Adding and strengthening as well as they did can’t be expected of Silva & Brands inside six months. Especially when the team they inherited was as plop as it was, confidence shot. No point comparing us to other teams - We are growing, the pace we grow further is dictated by all the world class players Walsh and Koeman added to the ranks and the boss contracts awarded out.

It's the same for both teams. It's a pathetic excuse. Brighton were hungrier and wanted it more. We were mentally weak and gutless.

No it isn’t the same for both teams. Were they both playing the same style? Do they have the same players being asked to do the same jobs? Were they all carrying exactly the same niggling injuries going into the game?

Nobody is saying it’s the whole story but it certainly is a factor that would affect both teams differently.

Brighton were just after a set-piece goal and luckily got one. We didn’t play to our best but we again created more than enough chances to win the game. I’d be more concerned if this were Silva’s third season and we weren’t creating chances. But it’s not.

Brighton played Saturday, had Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to train before playing Weds then had Thurs and Fri to train before yesterday and don't play again till this Weds when they will have had another 3 days prep

Wolves beat Spurs yesterday having had 4 days between playing the RS on the Friday and playing Weds then the two days before going to Wembley. Spurs, like us had two days gap between the game against each other to Boxing Day to Yesterday to this Tuesday

Everything is going in the right direction. So we are going onwards and upwards!

List the criteria by which you would have judged the halfway point had you been asked back in August.

Neves, Doherty and Jimenez aside not one other Wolves player would get in our starting 11. They are doing well because they have a decent coach. Will be interesting to see how they do if their owners opened the purse strings and they brought in quality like Richarlison, Digne, Andre Gomes etc...

Both Everton and Brighton played on Boxing Day. In fact they played later than us and had an even tighter turn around..

The tiredness argument is a cop out in this situation. They wanted it more. It was obvious from the first 15 minutes. Too many players content to coast through the match. Lots of them aren't fit to wear the shirt.

We both care about the team, I was angry yesterday and agree with all you point out.

For my own sanity, I’m just focusing on being patient as there’s many factors that were a detriment to any new manager and I have faith Brands will create a better squad for Marco to work his magic.

Skem wasn’t built in a day, although with patience there’s scope for us to build something special.

They couldn't ignore the unrest really considering our fans were protesting in the ground after the game, one of our senior Baines had spoken out against the manager and we were slowly falling towards the bottom 3.

Totally different situation to an average manager liked by the players and fans who takes us to 9-11th but with no real signs of unrest in the fanbase or dressing room.

A good team is worth more than the individual components. Just like us under Moyes.

What they do or don’t do isn’t any of my concern.

My only worry is us. The purse strings will be open once Brands is further along ridding us of players on wedge contributing nothing.

Our problem isnt money being spent- its a manager incapable of getting the best out of the players he has.

Its really that simple, like how Martinez had Romelu Lukaku, John Stones, Ross Barkley and Gerard Deulofeu yet couldn't get higher than 11th.

David Moyes had a Utd side look like mid table fodder.

Meanwhile Klopp took Brenda's garbage Liverpool side to a cup and Europa League Final.

Managers are worth their weight in gold. Look at how Moyes turned water into wine at us with a barebones budget.

What did that get us though? Nothing, he choked the one final he got us and bottled 2 semis, had we had a money man back then Moyes wouldn't have got further than 2 seasons never mind 11/12

Let's get it right no ones expecting him to win the league. But we're expecting better than what we are getting

Keep hearing this transition and settling in new players and that. Who isn't? Wolves have jusf been promoted and signed quite a few people and they're outperforming us with what I would say a weaker team "on paper" with players who have never played in this league before

Settling in players j agree does need patience but where 6 months in and still can't beat teams like Brighton who are absolute dross

Nope. Nuno got them playing the same way in the championship and just upgraded certain areas or signed loan player on permo deals.

A system was already in place for a season.

Who's brands going to get rid of and how? As players slip down to lower ranked and less wealthy clubs, you have to subsidise their wages to get them out of the club. It's easier said than done to purge any club of players who under achieve and are over paid.
