Oh yeh, it was the change. But in hindsight he should have stuck with that (at that stage) rather than do Bernard and go 4-4-nothing-2 like he did. He panicked.

We lost all momentum in the middle because we had Gylfi dropping deep and then nobody dropping into the space between the lines. It was crap.

The change - like you say - needed to be at HT, and I was crying out for it too. Bernard on, DCL off. Rich up top. Get back to a system that worked - and it did work during our decent run.
That's two in a row and at least that many where he is completely blind to what is bleedingly obvious to all tho. He can't keep getting free passes because he's tactically inept. And before you try to question it, yeah, he's tactically inept because he thinks two in midfield can be better than 3 in midfield. 3>2. That's just maths.

He is doing well with West Ham, they started off slow at the start of the season but they are starting to play some good stuff. They look far more promising than a Marco silva side. They came to goodison an rolled us 3-1 not bad showing mate.

You have clearly never seen them play a lot, they are complete crap.

In that glorious win by West Ham, we outpossessed them, outshot them, and Pickford had a bad game. They didn't create anything, we just gave them the game with our mistakes. Heck, Oumar came off the bench and hit the post. We had a ton of chances. Beyond that, did you not recall that we started Tosun, DCL, Morgan, Kenny, AND Holgate in that match?

Well i'm not sure that is the definition of being tactically inept, mate.

West Ham played 2 in midfield against Brighton's 3 today, but they had more players in wide areas - which is what Silva wants as well.

If football was so simple, than everybody would play 4-3-3.

If you're players can work it through then you can play 4-2-3-1 just fine against a three-man midfield.

I won't argue that he showed poor tactics yesterday, or in other games. But he's also shown very astute tactics this season as well. So you can't just say 'he's tactically inept' as a blanket statement.

Ok, to quantify it I will say he's BEEN tactically inept. For a manager with 10 years under his belt, is that not a bit shocking?

oh, and the "before you question it" was along the lines of asking me to clarify. Not that I think anyone that doesn't see this is wrong, just that my stance is "if he DOESN'T see this, he's tactically inept".

I'm confused. Are you saying playing 2 in central midfield is tactically inept? Why? It's a formation.

get ya, and I agree that he showed tactical ineptness in not adapting the other day

That we are way off the top 4. Have been bar 1 season in the last 10 and not surprised by that.
The league consists of 6 teams who can make top 4 and then the rest . We are one of the rest. Have been for a while

And one team outside that 6 who won the league a few years ago. Used to be a big 4. Now it’s a big six.

Also, the likes of Palace, Stoke, Hull, Wigan, Villa, Southampton, Cardiff, Birmingham, Swansea, Bradford and even Sunderland reaching domestic cup finals in recent years too.

But yeah, might as well give up.

What are the expectations? We honestly don't know.

I think the reasonable approach at the end of the season will be - have we improved our playing style (in the main, yes), have we tried to win games (so far yes), have we won more than we've lost (so far no), have we brought in players that believe in the style and believe in the club (so far I'd say yes), has he improved players we had (well, yes, so far - i.e. Keane, but there's still work to do, and with others, i.e. Tosun, they've seemed to go backwards). Etc.

Obviously, the aim is 7th, but if we finish 8th, 9th, 10th or even 11th, I doubt it's going to see him sacked. It will probably see the pressure on - and rightly so - but it won't see him sacked. Because we'll just have to start all over again.
Europe is the expectation.

Martinez didn’t achieve Europe under Moshiri - Sacked.

Koeman never looked like making the European places - Sacked.

Allardyce finished 8th - Sacked.

I think it’s pretty clear that we demand Europe, and so we should.

If Sam’s brief was Europe then not only was it ridiculously unfair as a requirement, but Moshiri is a complete imbecile for giving him a multi-year deal into the bargain.

We’ve won 2 in 9. They are above us, had more injuries than us and outplayed us at goodison. Anyway as I said my opinion, I think as the season goes on they’ll improve finish top 8 they’ve a manager who’ll improve them tactically as the season goes on, silva has shown with hull and Watford struggles with adapting a different approach when sides work him out.
Sounds like a certain former incumbent!

Cool. Why didn't we see it at all the other clubs he was at?

Look, he's not doing anything tricky or revolutionary. There's nothing to FIND OUT. He's using the same tactics he has for year and years. There are youtube videos on it, it's not a mystery - well, at least not to some posters.

But it's HILARIOUS to expect Silva to have done much more with Hull. If he got 21 points from 18 games out of a side that had 3 TOTAL WINS in the games prior to his arrival, I'd say that's pretty good. Beating Arsenal, Liverpool, Man U, I'd say that's pretty good. That's why it's hilarious to suggest Silva can't beat a top 6 side. Hull would've also LOVED to keep him, but they signed him to a 6 month contract.

I think it's fair to critique the drop in form at Watford, but again, it's WATFORD.
That silly - he had them safe then conspired to blow it. Funnily enough the manager before him, Mike Phelan, who was hopeless is now supposedly the genius who made Man Utd a great team. Amazing what a bit of spin will do!
