This spat between Big Sam and Silva is interesting. My red friend told me that Sam is saying that only the top 5/6 teams can play football from the back because they have all the best players who can do it. Sam apparently said that Silva is wrong for trying to play that kind of football with players who are not capable and Everton are coming unstuck as a result. Morale goes down the pan and so do results.

Everton has long had defenders who can play from the back : Hibbo, Capt Jags, and more recently Tubby Ashley.
Say what you like about our trophy cabinet, but at least we've always been easy on the eye...

So if you are not in the top 6, you have too play hoofball? this is reason that despite a few jobs being available over the last 6 weeks his name was not mentioned with any of them. Clubs, ie the chairman/fans do not want his style of football at their club anymore. There is a reason that every club he has managed, the supporters all seem to dislike him, he is just a dinosaur who has never progressed whatsoever in 30 years of management. Slightly odd considering he was one of the first managers ever to introduce the whole sports science/data analysis thing into this country (he was doing it long before Wenger ever got here)

All he has told you is his own slightly altered version of the interview the slug did with Talksport last week.

Pathetic comments from that fat slob, trying to undermine both Everton and Marco Silva. But the dignified way Silva dealt with the matter, when it was raised was very admirable.Im still unsure about Silva, but he deserves at least two full seasons in the job. That slob talking like he was some sort of success here. What an odious cretin that Sam Allardyce is.

There is absolutely no way Silva is top of his list if everyone is available since MS had no previous record to suggest he could take the club forward. It’s a gamble. And I have doubt if MS was chosen by Brands.
Brands approved of the appointment. That is fact.

Honestly I think his style is to allow the complete freedom of the players in the attacking third and Leicester played it perfectly to their strength. When you play a lazze faire style in the attacking 3rd the play goes to the path of least resistance which was the outside (given to us purposely by Leicester) because they knew when the crosses did come in they would always have the size advantage to deal with it.

I agree with everyone that Marco needs to work on breaking down teams like that by attempting something like an overload on one side and playing our way through the heart of their defense.

I think Marcos appeal as a manager going forward is that he lets his players be the creative ones in attack and solve it as they please but he needs to recognize when to take the reigns back like in this game and dictate how we go forward

The good thing is Bernard and Richarlson (normally) are players that aren’t afraid to take players on naturally and that’s what we need in these games. I think that the best example of it was Bernard’s run past chillwell into the box. Leicester knew they were completely f**ked at that point but we spent the whole game lobbing the ball into the box from out wide and none of the forwards were expecting it (no excuse though to not be there)

The flaw is he wanted to allow the players the freedom to do as they please in the attack but they simply aren’t there yet in the decision making process to play games completely free of all direction isn’t there.

It will happen one day hopefully with the right personnel in the squad and it will be a beautiful sight but for right now we could use a little structure to get us on our feet again.

Even Pep though (to his standards) failed his first season at city and took 2 transfer windows to fix the team to the way he wanted. That’s with the backing of the money that City have. Marco and brands will need about twice as long to fix the mistakes of the 3 previous managers and Walsh. So I’m sure with time and patience all will be well and we will be knocking down the European door.

He got well paid for being Everton manager, I don’t understand why he can’t enjoy his life a bit more, lose a bit of that enormous ego he has and chill. He can say what he wants obviously but once again it’s all about him. Even his mate Peter Reid said in a podcast “he didn’t get Everton”.

I didn’t like him at Bolton, thought the ego was growing rapidly then with the likes of Campo & Yori there. Newcastle he fell on his backside, they couldn’t abide him, West Ham the same, Sunderland & Palace I’m not sure what they think. When he became our manager I tried to support him because he’s the manager but I couldn’t fully take to him, there is just something about him.

That whole Big Sam farce they push in the media from his mates too, yuk, obnoxious mate.

Seventh place is looking a bit out of our reach but I haven't given up hope. All our peer teams (West Ham, Wolves, Brighton, Bournemouth and Leicester) must harbour similar ambition to snaffle this most desirable title.... 'the best of the rest'

The Cup?...no chance as we'll defo meet a SKY6 team...and it's very rare our lion-hearted lads can handle that pressure

The “best of the rest” title still goes to the 5th placed team.

The term was invented for teams finishing outwith the CL places and it still holds good today.

Though purists will say, with no little justification, that the team finishing 2nd is the rightful recipient of that honour :)

oh...so we're even further away than I thought...

Brighton will achieve 5th before we do...

He might have a point!
