Gained a few lbs in his last couple of seasons too.
Changed my mind over Marco. I was a little underwhelmed by his managerial performance to date, but I've done a complete 180 on that opinion and now think that in the trying circumstances he's had to deal with he's done pretty darn good.
It's a transitional season so I'm not expecting top 4 or anything silly like that. A good cup run will please me immensely.
I think we've got a good'un here lads.
A sensible post, this wont be tolerated.I really hope you are right mate , I am putting my proverbial on the Block for Marco !
TBH he came with concerns- - defensively , consistency handling of pressure , how he adjusts his playing strategy when its not working , or found out - my concerns are still there
However he has grown on me for reasons I have previously stated on this thread
Also if I look at the PL there are few clubs that do not have issues and or a lack consistency with a number of managers under pressure , three come to mind that lost their jobs after an initial positive start the crunch is how Marco handles the downturn from December , the pressure , his capability in countering opposition who have cottoned onto his playing style , the players he brings in and lets go , the patience of the supporters ?
IMO therefore he and Brands should be given a transitional season and or another two windows before a serious review is required
Heard Moshiri comments about saying we aren't high enough in the table. He's absolutely right and the pressure is now on Marco Silva. We've got winnable games coming up and if he doesn't get good enough points i can see the writing on the wall....

You've got fa cup fever.
There is a growing trend on this forum that our super fans believe Everton should only recruit manager's who have already won cups. Poor Marco. He's now deemed never ever to be good enough for the giants of Everton! Marco has been demonised for this shortfall in his CV.
I find this concept troubling.
How many cups and with what leagues are the minimum requirements for selection?
How many of these decorated managers are available and waiting for the call to join our project?
Why isn't Ranieri in the hot seat? He did the impossible but where is he now? Madrid, Barcelona err...
Is Pochettino or Sarri (no idea about spelling sorry) not good enough for Everton either cos they ain't won a damn thing?
Just because a manager hasn't won anything YET doesn't mean he ain't good enough. Cos you see they all gotta start somewhere.
Imagine if you will the countless managers throughout the years of the cut throat premiership that if they were given more time would've eventually won something. Careers ruined because the super chairman/super fan demands silverware or top 6 whatever!
Just say that there was a new set of rules imposed on our league. Firstly a club cannot sack their manager for at least 5 seasons. Secondly all clubs had the same amount they could spend on transfers. I bet you the managers we lauded as great would be very different and surprise you.
Players get managers sacked far too easily now with their player power. One bad egg and soon enough they down tools. They are spoiled and molly coddled. It's a modern problem that untold personal wealth creates.
Let's give Marco time. Stop needing to be in the champions league or competing with giant clubs 10 times our size. Those type of players won't come to us yet okay. We would have to nurture them here. Our time will come maybe but not today. Give Marco 5 seasons just to see what he can do. Your world doesn't need to fall apart cos we drew away at Newcastle or whatever. The bloke needs time cos he wants to play football the right way. That's not a quick fix. You have to build it.
Cmon Marco just turn this bad run around and let's all start believing again.

That's really just a really terrible idea. "Let's say managers get 5 seasons". We'd be relegated with Martinez. Great call. We were in the lower third with Koeman, great call there. There is a growing trend on this forum that our super fans believe Everton should only recruit manager's who have already won cups.
