What tripe - Moyes got Saha, which was similar to getting Lukaku. We only got Lukaku as Chelsea were loaning him out for experience and was then dubbed surplus to requirements. He couldn’t give a stuff about us and only saw us as a stepping stone - a convenient port of call.

And who signed John Stones again?
Tripe you say, yummy!

Ha ha, Saha was 30, had been injured. Sir Alex said he wouldn't get much first team football. A busted flush near the end of his career.

Lukaku was a young highly rated centre forward, owned by money bags Chelsea, that had done extremely well on loan to West Brom. Morinho was highly berated for allowing him to go. Chelsea had a lot of players out on loan. They had bought the cream of European youth and shipped them out. Lukaku saw us as a stepping stone, so what! All top players with tremendous potential do. That's our current situation. Get over it. There is no doubt that at the time it was seen as a great business that we managed to buy Lukaku and subsequently make a massive fortune on him. Saha and Lukaku are incomparable.

Stones was bought by Moyes, never said he wasn't, but NURTURED BY MARTINEZ! Bought for 3m and sold for 47m. Tremendous business but sad all the same.

“player manager.....there’s a term you rsrely hear these days.

Howard abd Dalglish were both player managers here and at the RS respectively.

Outside if Giggs’s brued caretaker soell sfter Moyes was sacked, I can’t remember the last player manager in the to
flight.

Maybe Vialli at Chelsea?
Ya that's true, was Shearer completely done as a player when he managed Newcastle? My memory is gone to pot! Wasn't Hoddle doing both at Swindon the year they were up?

Didn't Paul Jewel at Wigan bring himself on sometimes ?

Press conference in 30 minutes

I expect the dullard to come out with the usual stuff i.e it’s an important game which we must win, we will try our best, we want to give the supporters a good result, blah blah blah

Just get 3 points on Sunday you dullard

Did well for us though, even scoring in the Fa Cup final, before trailing off.

Put it this way, Moyes got us the likes of Jags, Lescott and Stones, while Bobby bought Funes Mori.

Of course this is a gross simplification as he made a few bad signings, but the fact is we lost not just our best manager in years, but also a really good chief scout, given he would watch all our signings in person before pulling the trigger.

Football is strange.

You look back and realise for that time Moyes was a good fit. He was allowed to do his job because he kept finishing higher than expected. Sometimes we moaned cos the football was negative and we eventually realised he couldn't take us any further.

We use to say imagine if he was given proper money. But look at his Man Utd reign. He didn't do well with money there.

On one hand he successfully tempered our expectation by downplaying our club. This made us feel small time which was not a nice feeling. However on the other hand we won loads of matches. Goodison was a hard place to come. There was certainly bite in our side. He made you feel confident. We struggled on the big occasion though. He was a blessing for Bill cos other managers may have moaned about the finances but he didn't.

He left a legacy. It was a shame he left how he did. I felt slightly betrayed. Silly really. I grew up with him.

I want Marco to stay for ten years. I want him to blossom as a manager and create stability. If we are patient and don't hound him who knows we may even win something.

Absolute myth that about moyes at Utd

He was given very little money to spend and the players he did sign were great purchases

Fellaini has saved them in multiple occasions and was the reason why they beat juve in champions league and mata is world class

Moyes was never given an opportunity at Utd to splash the cash

LVG signed him didn't he?

Yes he did. Moyes wanted Herrera (who LVG then bought and has been good for them) Kroos and Bale. They let him buy Fellaini as they wouldn’t back him for other midfielders then in January he bought Mata. Both are still there 5 years later whilst the likes of Schweinsteiger Schneiderlin Di Maria Falcao Darmian and probably others I can’t remember have all been moved on already.
