the only person who has "apparently" jibbed us of is fat sam ( not because he didn't want the job either btw )

OUR FANS: AH NO WAY LA HATE FAT SAM ME HOPE HE DOESNT GET IT

"FAT SAM REJECTS EVERTON"

OUR FANS: AH NO WAY LA WERE GETTING JIBBED OFF BY FAT SAM WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO, WERE GOING DOWN NOBODY LOVES US

get a grip of yourselves

How would that be cheaper though? Say we're offering a 4 year contract (on the basis that Martinez got 5 years and Koeman 3, i'm splitting the difference) £10m a year is £40m, £10m plus £3m a year is £22m. Not only is it not cheaper, it's almost twice as expensive.

Initially its cheaper and you'll get a better manager. And if we're looking short term, 2 years (Ancelloti £20mill, Silva £16mill) the difference is marginal.

You roll into 3 years, you'd hope we'd be winning trophies with Carlo and it'd be worth it.

There's a pre pubescent girl syndrome amongst a section of Evertonians nowadays

Sorry mate but it's your guess work there's no evidence we have or we haven't and the papers print anything to sell them. How many times do papers get sued? Often therefore that's telling why.

What sells papers more...Ev busting out moves for ex Bayern Munich and Real Madrid manager.

Or Watfords Silva.

But that still isn't cheaper is it? Which was your original point.

If we appoint Silva it wouldn't be with a view to a 2 year term i'm sure, because in that case we might as well get a short term fix in. It seems fairly clear that they are looking for someone to be here for the longer term, so if looking at costs and assuming Ancelotti left after 2 years, we'd then need to factor in that we might end up paying £10m compensation and £10m a year just to stay at the level we were at, meaning the difference in cost gets even bigger. I don't disagree that Ancelotti is a top quality manager but I doubt he'd come here for one, and if he did, it would almost certainly be more considerably more expensive than bringing in Silva.

The point was initially bringing him in would be cheaper than pulling Silva away

Longer term it would be more expensive, yes, but we were paying Koeman £6mill a year - an extra 4 on top hypothetically is pocket change if you look at it that way.

But by the sounds of it, we've changed tact completely. Willing to go in high initially only to bring in someone cheap with Silva. Probably covering ourselves just if he jumps ship after a year

I can see why people aren't sure on Silva but personally i'd be quite pleased with the appointment. He's a good coach I think, and seems to be able to get improvement from players, which is what we need. I also think he may be better suited to working with a DoF than another big character in Ancelotti or the like who may have an attitude similar to Koeman's and leave us in a position where 2 people seem to be doing the same job. In my opinion bringing someone in who may actually be suited to the job at hand would be preferable to bringing in a 'name' which we did with Koeman. It would possibly show that Moshiri is learning that football is not about having a Hollywood manager, and just throwing money at things is not necessarily the best way to go about building a successful set up.

Remember you are dealing with Watford here - Jokanavic's reward for leading the Hornets to automatic promotion in May 2015 was the offer of a £1,000 (yes £1k a week) pay rise.

Obviously, Jokanovic knew he was not wanted and left to be replaced by Flores who was already lurking in the background.

Loyalty works two ways.
Take it from a WFC fan, that isn’t true. Jokanovic asked for a 200% Pay rise and an extra year on his new contract - which would then be a 3 year contract, and our owners throughout their whole spectre of owning football clubs, have never offered more than 2. Now you may debate that the manager should get 3 years after the job he did - but he wanted to put himself on a contract that he was never going to get and wasn’t willing to negotiate. Did the owners use that to their advantage to get QSF? Definitely. But Jokanovic priced himself out first. Did the end justify the means? Sure, we stayed up. And QSF returned to Spain as he wanted - he was not sacked, he was homesick so exercised his escape clause. Then we got Mazzarri - his remit was to push us further up the league and he failed, whilst single handedly alienating the fans. He was never suited to the English game and refused to learn English full stop.

So yes, loyalty does work both ways. And we are definitely guilty of being ruthless, maybe beyond reason to some. The end has always justified the means however. There has been mitigating circumstances each time we have hired a new manager. All of the above has come from our Chief Executive at fan events and live interviews on national radio.

Anything contrary to that has come from the national press that you are saying not to believe now in your hunt for a new manager.

You can criticise our club for sacking managers, we fully expect it. Just thought it would be better to give you the facts rather than the stuff that sold papers at the time.

A side of farts flapped it because of the Gwlayds. It's understandable - it's happened to much better teams.

Look at some of their wins, they've been impressive.

For all of his brilliance, that Richarlison has apparently missed 10/15 crucial chances in games - fella who covers Watford told me when we beat them - and they should have converted those 3 losses (including us) into wins.

He's got a bad, bad side playing some great stuff. The Martinez comparisons are just very lazy.

At 2-1 up against Chelsea and both within 5 mins if their second Richarlison missed a 5 yard sitter then missed with an unmarked header from 6y out mate, they could and should have been 4-1 up against a team over two games we barely mustered a chance against.

Any manager that "unlucky" must be a Jonah.

The last thing we need is an unlucky manager.

The more I read about Senor Silva the more I think "swerve" :pint2:

Not really mate, he just has a you g lad who keeps .missing sitters playing for them, against us they win if their keeper doesn't get sparked out.
