2019/20 Marco Silva

Silva is stinking the gaff out. Should have played Kean from the start against Norwich Leicester and the reds. Might be up to speed by now. 15mins every week isn’t going to get him firing.
It's baffling mate it's not like we are getting anything out of DCL and Tosun. May as well give the kid a run

Article in the Telegraph. Before you start I don't read that rag, it's on NewsNow says
The board have sympathy and take responsibility with Silva for not signing a centre foreward and a centre back. They realise that the team has had lots of games were they were on top but did not have a forward to.put the ball in the net. Also that the team has a soft spine which another centre half could have stiffened. That's why they are still backing Silva

For me we are desperate for a proven goalscorer.
As for a spine I think there are so many in this team without one

Don’t tell me you take anything seriously from that ra.... oh never mind.

A team is a mirror reflection of its manager.

Guardiola's teams are perfectionists who play one way and one way only

Jose's teams are snide, hard and unified.

Klopp's teams are quick, strong and aggressive.

Even us under Moyes had his identity on the pitch of being tough, hard working which reflected him as a person.

We under Silva are weak, predictable and spineless. It mirrors the bloke - weak in that he cant come back when going behind, predictable in that his subs and in game management is shocking and spineless in how he never questions the officials/VAR/Let Klopp run on the pitch in the Anfield derby etc etc.

This is why things will never EVER improve under him - Brands could sign him Messi and we would still be utterly pathetic because the man is not a leader whether you like him as a person or not.

He is Mr no personality- I could tell you no more about Marco Silva than I could have 18 months ago - and thats on him.

Managers are mirror images of their boards. We hire low grade bottom half premier league losers because our board has zero ambition apart from staying in the league. They hate the fans, they hate that Liverpool is a constant reminder of their own failings, they hate the fact that managers are failing so badly they have to keep firing them. They just want some steady Eddie long term appointment who can keep the fans at bay and keep them in the league so they don’t have to do a single thing.

The problem is that we have 4 Strikers currently, 5 if you include Sando, but we found a home for him, for now.

I know people like to criticise Brands for his "failures", but I think its very unrealistic to assume we would "fix" the whole squad in 12months, so we are left with some players not fit for purpose. In the summer we bought an entire new midfield, Delph we know had his problems and Gmblammo and Gomes have suffered 2 pretty nasty and both quite freak injuries. I mean who has even heard of a player tearing his thigh muscle to bits by shooting in training????

I think thats the only mitigation the Board are using, that plus the VAR decisions.

As I said to Dave yesterday, we have had 2 DoF and 5 managers in the last few years, the squad when Brands arrived was a mess, we have added some quality, but we still have Snides starting games, we still have Tosun starting games. I was more than willing to give Silva lots of leeway, lots of time and I do feel a bit sorry for him, hes been very unlucky, but as McNulty says in his latest piece :

"Silva is not only losing games but he also fulfils the lines from the old Blues song saying that if it was not for bad luck, he would have no luck at all. It is a toxic combination."

So sure, he hasnt really got a Striker he can rely on, I can only assume Kean isnt doing enough in training? There must be a reason he isnt playing games, but whatever mitigation I can throw in his defence, the simply fact is that we sit 17th and thats not just down to bad luck.
I don't disagree with any of that.

Silva should be getting more out of the squad he has, no arguments there. 17th and losing at home to the likes of Norwich is not acceptable, it was that game that tipped me into the Silva out camp.

He's not the only one to blame though. I feel like we let him down in the summer and if this article is right then it's good to see that they acknowledge that. It doesn't mean we should keep the manager, but I think it's a positive sign if they are taking on board their own failings. The centre half one is massive for me, and it was obvious before the season started. He's not playing Holgate because he rates him, he's just playing him because he thinks we need pace at the back to play the way he's trying to. That's not a good position to put a manager in, and he has my sympathy because of that.

It's quite annoying when you're being called a bedwetter and listening to everyone talk about how cool Brands is when you can see pretty clear issues that people are telling you don't exist, so forgive me if that sounds a bit 'I told you so'.

Sandros rep was "had one surprisingly excellent season out of nowhere with Malaga after doing very little to suggest he was capable of it before that". Not the same as a player who genuinely has been considered one of the best young talents in the game.

So I get your point, but I think the excitement around Kean and assumption he can contribute much more than he has been allowed to is fairly justifiable.
But has he really been considered that?

It’s what we’ve been told but I don’t know how true it is.Players who are seen as the worlds best talents don’t move to teams like us for £25m Very often. People said it was because of brands but watching him play I think it’s just because of how good he is.I’m not saying he’s no good but I don’t see him in the bracket you’re talking about from what I’ve watched.
