Just think, we paid compensation with watford for turning his head when the actual reality was he was having one of his losing streaks, we are a basket case.
I remember daring to suggest this is what happened and getting pelters. Funny how things change. Turns out the nosedive at Watford is because he's a poor manager and not because we got a weird lob on for him.

I'll be honest, I didn't go for the head turned nonsense myself, as that would show him to be very unprofessional. I just didn't get the whole approach for him, he failed badly at his 2 Prem clubs and we give him the keys to the kingdom, it's utterly bizarre all round.

More excuses in the Telegraph, yes we needed those two positions strengthening and that is on Brands/the board. However why isn't he giving Kean a run? And it doesn't account for Silva's awful selections, in game management and inconsistent results for eighteen months.

"Everton went into this season in dire need of a powerful target man and skilled central defender. That they secured neither is not Silva’s fault, and it is the acceptance of that joint-accountability by the board which partially explains the reluctance to make him the scapegoat.

Unfortunately for Silva, events may yet conspire against him even more if a similarly commendable performance as that at Leicester does not transpire at Anfield, particularly as so many supporters have lost patience."

And people are actually surprised with how his tenure has gone. The whole "sacking club" thing is irrelevant when you've hired totally the wrong bloke from the beginning

Yeah it's difficult to get the point across without rambling too much. I really don't mean to suggest Kean won't be a success, and i've said plenty of times that I can see a lot of talent there, but the truth is I've not really seen anything from him yet that makes me think he needs more starts. I can understand the idea that he can't do any worse than the others, but people talk about it as if Silva is unfathomably holding him back and I just don't see it.
Thing is he isn't going to adapt on the bench is he? For me he looks our best bet give him a run he may not score every week but sure as hell looks more dangerous than Tosun and DCL. Plus he's our future. I agree it will take him the season to fully adapt so he will mainly be a sub, but he could be getting more starts upfront especially in the cups or at home especially with Iwobi behind him

The whole thought process for him was so weird. Failed to keep Hull up even when in the drivers seat. Did well in beginning of season, we sounded him out then his team went in to a tailspin.

So either he was completely unprofessional and didn't care about Watford when we came looking, which should have disqualified him immediately, or he was a manager who always has a lot of prolonged tailspin results, which should have disqualified him immediately.

Don't want to turn this into the Kean thread but he has to earn his starts. When he's started I think he's looked poor, he hasn't made himself enough of a nuisance or looked like he's understood the role of a lone striker. That's not his fault, but it's not really Silva's either.

He's shown flashes of real talent that make me believe he can be a really good long term signing, but his impact in the short term hasn't been great. Even as a sub, both Tosun and DCL have come off the bench and scored, he hasn't. I said above, there's a case for playing him on the basis that he couldn't do any worse, but he's not made much of a case through his own performances.
