I have to admit I was in the keep camp, in that we do need a coach to build long term and we needed to give him the season. But the way we are chronically underperforming, his (stale tactics and baffling at times) substitutions are alarming me. It's making me question his abilities again as I was last January. He is an inconsistent coach at a time where we need consistency, maybe that's his style of play maybe that's because unless he has a full team he can't execute it? I think the next three games could define his Everton tenure. We did have a go yesterday but the same old flaws show up in terms of defensive mistakes and inability to take chances. But we do need a few results fast or he will be gone, long term plan or not. I have no idea who Brands would as a replacement I just want some hope that we can progress. Desperate for it. This season looks like another disappointment already.

He had his free pass last season. Not anymore. If he can’t deliver, someone else will do it.

Thing is while I agree on this it shouldn't be on our minds, what worries me is you cant look at the table and make a case for one club definitely going down, we dont have a Derby or Huddetsfiled and a couple of duffers to go with them.
The battle to be 4th from bottom is going to be much stronger then the battle for 4th, I hoped we would compete for the higher battle but its looking like the lower is more our battle ground this season.
Watford. And we will do what we always do go on a terrible run then once achieving anything is gone will go on a good run. End up in mid table nothingness again.

For any decent coach we have some great talent here right now to convince them to join;

Richarldson
Digne
Gomes
Iwobi
Kean
Bernard

All players that would attract a better manager with the promise of more to come. However there isnt any managers you could pick out right now to even want to move here hald way through a season. The Jose shouts are depserate at best as i am sure if there was any interest of him coming here then he would be already

But bigger picture is that we have to give Silva the season unless a top manager decides mid table is a great new challenge which is as likeley as Klopp demanding we hire him tomorrow. It probably means the season will be a dud AGAIN, it means there wont be anything exciting for us to get behind and probably a few players in the list above will want to move on.

I'm not too happy but then there really isnt another manager out there who we could replace silva with right now, more concerning, is there one at the end of the season after another mid table finish?

It’s the owner or Brands’s job to convince s proven quality to come and not hiring some below average PL manager hoping he will come good.

Played 7, won 2, lost 4, drawn 1 scored 6 and conceded 12. It is close to relegation form and we will be lucky to even break into the top 10.

Nothing else needs saying other than goodbye and good luck.

Not good enough 2nd year into his tenure and stupid letting it go on any further and allowing this season to be any further damaged.

People say that every season to a degree. I've always said a lot of fans have been scarred by the Smith and Walker years, that we press the panic button. We're 7 games in. Lesser teams have been rock bottom by Xmas and pulled themselves out repeatedly (see Palace) for us to even be anywhere near them.

The only time I was worried was under Koeman mainly due to the fact we had zero plan. We've a plan, we've better players, we just need form.

This is even before we start thinking of challenging above. That's where Silva gets judged at the end of the season.

He manages to do worse than Koeman’s attempt in his second season. This is extremely worrying.

I don't see a reason to bin him midway and appoint someone else to be fair.

If it's a poor season, it's poor either way. Getting someone in just to find a little bit of respectability to maybe finish 7th as he finds his footing just to then re-start for next season doesn't seem logical.

Finish the season with Silva. It's not up to standard he goes. Then fresh manager comes in and had a summer to prepare.

Theres zero chance of relegation. All their is, is a disappointing season

Usually I'd agree. But it's too late and causes huge upheaval to have to find a manager during preseason.

We can still salvage this season. We have two cups to go at. That won't happen if we persist with this manager and the dross he is serving up.

We've wasted 30 years. I'm not of the mind to waste more and have us under prepared going into another season.

If you were top of your field in your job, highly sought after and succesful, would you join a middle of the road company based on sweet nothings and no track record?

No-one worth their managerial record would want to come here, that is a fact. Could you see a top manager joining bournemouth, west ham, watford, (insert name here) team?

We are them, we laugh at those clubs but were are them. Worse in fact, an extremely high wage bill for medicore talent that we spend more time trying to offload every summer than replacing them. No track record of any success, fans that turn on the players every week, a staggered squad that will fall apart without success in the near future. A rival club that is massively overperforming, a league in which the division between the top and the rest has grown exponentially in the past few years running even the great premier league clubs to the wayside.

Look at our squad, look at what it takes now to win the league, how much money it would take and how hindered we are by terrible previous business.

This is where we are now, we cant attract the players / manager we think we deserve because truth is, we don't. We are a nothing club and have been for years, just another name in the fixture list rather than a team to look out for.It is easy as a fan to say 'what about xxxxx' but truth be told why would they join us knowing chelsea/united/real madrid/juventus/inter milan/ bayern munich / psg (the list could go on) would take them up in a heartbeat?

Us appointing the likes of silva is where we need to be, but its luck rather than experience. Who knows if the next silva is actually a new potch/klopp style manager? There has to be some sort of barometer in place for managers, something i said a week or so back. Judge a manager on performance rather than potential. Sadly we are at least another 3 years of really being in a fresh situation and only then may we dream of a better manager.
