If you were top of your field in your job, highly sought after and succesful, would you join a middle of the road company based on sweet nothings and no track record?

No-one worth their managerial record would want to come here, that is a fact. Could you see a top manager joining bournemouth, west ham, watford, (insert name here) team?

We are them, we laugh at those clubs but were are them. Worse in fact, an extremely high wage bill for medicore talent that we spend more time trying to offload every summer than replacing them. No track record of any success, fans that turn on the players every week, a staggered squad that will fall apart without success in the near future. A rival club that is massively overperforming, a league in which the division between the top and the rest has grown exponentially in the past few years running even the great premier league clubs to the wayside.

Look at our squad, look at what it takes now to win the league, how much money it would take and how hindered we are by terrible previous business.

This is where we are now, we cant attract the players / manager we think we deserve because truth is, we don't. We are a nothing club and have been for years, just another name in the fixture list rather than a team to look out for.It is easy as a fan to say 'what about xxxxx' but truth be told why would they join us knowing chelsea/united/real madrid/juventus/inter milan/ bayern munich / psg (the list could go on) would take them up in a heartbeat?

Us appointing the likes of silva is where we need to be, but its luck rather than experience. Who knows if the next silva is actually a new potch/klopp style manager? There has to be some sort of barometer in place for managers, something i said a week or so back. Judge a manager on performance rather than potential. Sadly we are at least another 3 years of really being in a fresh situation and only then may we dream of a better manager.

Pellegrini at west ham is a top manager

Arteta is the most ridculous suggestion for our next manager imagineable.

No one who has never managed should not be considered for 1 second. Even if Gods own son on earth wanted the job he needs to be jibbed.

What about Gary Stevens, Trevor Steven, Neville Southall and about 300 other ex players that have never managed at top level before.

It would be a complete and utter reckless gamble.
They are all a gamble. He is a succesful assistant to the very best. His credentials are very different to the people you quote. I made it clear that his Everton link is nothing to do with it

He manages to do worse than Koeman’s attempt in his second season. This is extremely worrying.

They're on the same points.

Huge difference is that we hadn't scored a goal in 5 out of 8 games under Koeman and leaked goals like a siv with an aging side.

There was never any sign of improvement or plan under him having spent £300million.

Also the football was absolutely shocking. At least there's an idea here and areas to improve.

Usually I'd agree. But it's too late and causes huge upheaval to have to find a manager during preseason.

We can still salvage this season. We have two cups to go at. That won't happen if we persist with this manager and the dross he is serving up.

We've wasted 30 years. I'm not of the mind to waste more and have us under prepared going into another season.

They'd have a manger in mind way before preseason if Silva isn't cutting it.
