Even if he does turn us down it will never be broadcast, such offers are made and refused discreetly.
No club wishes to advertise refusals or to admit the manager they do appoint was not their first choice.
So unless he does arrive here( he won’t) you will probably never know for certain whether we approached him or not.

We have defo approached him.

Why wouldnt we?

And now I will post this again.

Heres why Jose will not be managing Everton any time soon.

His yearly wage is around 15m a year - 15m is nothing money.
He would demand serious transfer funds - We dont have serious transfer funds, we have spent 86m over the last 3 years, if you think you are attracting Jose with 30m a window to spend, ive got some very bad news for you.
So Moshiri can just fund our transfers, right? - Hes already ploughed 250m into the club for very little return on the pitch, I would suspect he wont be in a hurry to do it again, he hasnt invested in us to be a charity, hes invested to make money, but lets assume hes willing to give Jose the 200m a window he would want.
FFP is still a thing - People often say it doesnt matter about FFP, cos we dont play in Europe, but if your appointing Jose and giving him 200m a window, Europa should be the minimum aim.

The above are the reasons why I dont think we would be able to make a package attractive enough to appoint Jose Mourinho.

The above also ignores the fact that Jose is a winner, but hes also spent 1.5bn on transfers to achieve that aim, the clubs he has joined have all been clubs with some degree of CL pedigree, clubs that have in their very recent history challenged for Titles and won trophies, Everton is none of those things. So even if you could make a package that Jose would like. Its still in his best interests to sit and wait for an easier job. Hes a short term manager, hes never stayed anywhere longer than 3 years. Even for Jose we are not a 3 year project.

Its nothing to do with ambition, there are only 10 clubs in the world who Jose would join, being unable to attract the greatest manager of the last 20 years has nothing to do with ambition, its called reality.

Football clubs are not run like every other business. If you believe that, you are very naive.

Do you think Moshiri genuinely thought Fat Sam was a long term option? We literally paid him £346,000 a week over the 6 months he was here. He always knew he would be getting sacked as soon as the season was done and so did Moshiri.
Football clubs can and do go bust just like any other business,
There are still budgets to adhere to and fiscal regulations to be aware off.
We don’t generate enough money currently to allow Maureen carte blanche.

I am a hopeless optimist and dreamer.

But at the height of their powers, Led Zeppelin twice avoided Madison Square Garden and Earls Court to reconnect with what they fell in love with in the first place.

For younger viewers on half term, google is your friend.

Jose fell in love with fame, a long time ago, he craves the attention, thats why hes on Sky, hes not doing Sky for the money.

Theres no fame in managing Everton to 8th.

So what your saying is there's still a chance!

I agree with you entirely.
I’ve never claimed we had any chance of appointing him and have always scorned those who do.
Plus despite his impressive credentials , I can’t stand the horrible blert.

Maybe however the Kopite media would likely get wind of it mate they love nothing more than to rub it in when things dont go right for us.

Mosh and his bezzie Jim are also big gobs and would love telling the world we made an approach like Monopoly Money for Koulibaly.

This is it for me, He loves all the media attention these days. He was loving all that Pogba stuff.

Managing Everton to the FA Cup and CL?

Fame junkies gets you on Strictly Come Dancing. He is a football man. Granted a famous one.

Either way, its a moot point. He wont be here anytime soon, unless Saudi Arabia buy us.

It wouldnt matter mate.

We have terrible commercial deals that with FFP would limit our spending even if the fellas at City and Roman both bought us at the same time.

Mourinho not being whacked out of his gourd the whole time probably leads to him making more sensible decisions, though.

We are destined to be crap for another 20 odd years aren't we. If we are lucky we might stumble on some obscure manager who gets lucky but in the main we'll always be hiring crap like Silva, Martinez type managers, not proven winners.

Crap managers, crap players, crap beer, crap footy, crap Fc
