Even if he does turn us down it will never be broadcast, such offers are made and refused discreetly.
No club wishes to advertise refusals or to admit the manager they do appoint was not their first choice.
So unless he does arrive here( he won’t) you will probably never know for certain whether we approached him or not.
We have defo approached him.
Why wouldnt we?
And now I will post this again.
Heres why Jose will not be managing Everton any time soon.
His yearly wage is around 15m a year - 15m is nothing money.
He would demand serious transfer funds - We dont have serious transfer funds, we have spent 86m over the last 3 years, if you think you are attracting Jose with 30m a window to spend, ive got some very bad news for you.
So Moshiri can just fund our transfers, right? - Hes already ploughed 250m into the club for very little return on the pitch, I would suspect he wont be in a hurry to do it again, he hasnt invested in us to be a charity, hes invested to make money, but lets assume hes willing to give Jose the 200m a window he would want.
FFP is still a thing - People often say it doesnt matter about FFP, cos we dont play in Europe, but if your appointing Jose and giving him 200m a window, Europa should be the minimum aim.
The above are the reasons why I dont think we would be able to make a package attractive enough to appoint Jose Mourinho.
The above also ignores the fact that Jose is a winner, but hes also spent 1.5bn on transfers to achieve that aim, the clubs he has joined have all been clubs with some degree of CL pedigree, clubs that have in their very recent history challenged for Titles and won trophies, Everton is none of those things. So even if you could make a package that Jose would like. Its still in his best interests to sit and wait for an easier job. Hes a short term manager, hes never stayed anywhere longer than 3 years. Even for Jose we are not a 3 year project.
Its nothing to do with ambition, there are only 10 clubs in the world who Jose would join, being unable to attract the greatest manager of the last 20 years has nothing to do with ambition, its called reality.
