Martinez: Everton players fear Goodison Crowd

We don't help at all. When Stones is having words with the crowd then there are real issues.

You could literally see Ross' confidence falling away after every misplaced pass. The team aren't doing the business but the fans are turning up offering ZERO backing to the team, then as soon as a few passes go astray the place becomes hell for the players.

Forgot the 'they get paid loads a money' shouts for a minute, these are normal people who will be affected by shouts and groans, the lot. They need support, and voice the anger at the end not at half-time or during the game. Noone wants to hear it but our fans right now are only making the situation worse.

the players and manager are overpaied soft, spoiled kids...In eastern Europe, Balkans, Latin America if players are underperforming or handing transfer requests they face TONES OF ABUSE at BEST if they are lucky not to be beaten up, having their car demolished or house set on fire. and they dont earn a percent of premier league footballers wages. and our superstars are afraid of booing...they should be more afraid of another winless game.

Martinez - the master of excuses...Europa League, World Cup year, injuries, tough luck, referees...and now crowd...unbelievable

But it's quite clear that the thinking of 'getting on the players' backs straight away after the crowd have been silent for the first 15 minutes' doesn't work mate.

Fans should support the team. I'm not slating the crowd as a whole, or the fanbase, but it's pretty clear that our problems at Goodison are at least partially down to really toxic atmospheres at a lot of games.

A young side needs support and with that will come confidence.

A young side needs support yes. But more importantly needs a proper manager.

Blaming the managers failings on the crowd is just wrong, imagine these players if they played in Italy or South America if they are scared of the crowd at Goodison, cowards.

Let's base our standards of football support on that then matey, back to the 80s we go :)

He explicitly said the lower gladdy is full of wools and bad meffs.
He's not wrong, I always sit in lower gwladys when i go and i am both a wool and a bad meff. Haven't been since spring 2014 though so doesn't excuse the last year and a half.

Honestly lad I don't care what Bulgarians, Bosnians and the like do at their games because I'm talking about England, and Everton in particular.

The fans are as bad as the team, and I dunno if you get to the game or whatever your situation, but the environments that bad that going the game is no longer enjoyable.

But they don't play in Italy or South America do they...

I'm not blaming the team's failings on the crowd at all. But much like Howard with Stones' back-pass, a toxic atmosphere like the one today (totally flat from the off, then angry, then behind the side for about 10 mins despite us battering them for 45 mins in the second half) isn't going to help much...

The crowd was booing after three minutes today mate, just before Besic hit the post.

Three. Minutes.

It's toxic atm. Half down to the team/manager, and half down to frustration and panic setting in way too quickly.

Interestingly, if you go back and watch the first half, the only time Stones actually loses possession is for their goal. After that, on every occasion he gets the ball, he looks well in control. Who panics and starts booing and shouting and screaming? The fans.

I'm not at all saying the fans shouldn't be able to air their frustration or that they shouldn't. But today, and I'll say it again as it's the only way I can think to describe it, the atmosphere was toxic.
For those first three minutes we never touched the ball. The crowd were immediately frustrated at what looked like a complete lack of desire to engage. I didn't hear booing at that point, I heard and felt the frustration of everyone around me that we were setting the standard for the rest of the game. At times in the first half there wasn't an Everton shirt within 20 yards of Lukaku. No effort and no desire.

It's only a game mate, ok it means a lot to us all, but it's still only a game.

My point is the manager is making excuses for his poor performance, blaming the crowd for not being able to be a Swansea side in turmoil is pathetic. If it was as bad as he's making out the fans would have stormed the dressing room.
